Melody Magic Music Studios is opening in September, 2011.
You all know Katherine Knight from Kindermusik and all of the great work she does with children. Now, she has taken her business to a whole new level and has opened her very own music studio – Melody Magic Music Studio.
Richmondmom.com sat down with Katherine to find out what’s new and what’s happening, and here’s what we learned.
RMOM: Congratulations Katherine! Tell us about your new business and your upcoming Grand Opening.
Katherine: I am so excited about Melody Magic Music Studio. Richmond needs a place that brings quality musical experiences to young children. Using music to enrich a child’s life should start as soon as they are born and that’s exactly what we do at Melody Magic. Our new studio opens on September 6, 2011 and we have lots of fun activities planned for our Grand Opening week.
RMOM: How does Kindermusik work with Melody Magic?
Katherine: Kindermusik offers musical experiences for children before they learn to read music or play a formal instrument. Melody Magic Music Studio brings Kindermusik classes, musical playdates, fun birthday parties, musical storytime, and so much more to them at our studio.
RMOM: Why did you expand your business this way?
Katherine: For me personally, this is a dream come true. I have always wanted a completely child-friendly, fun environment as a “home” for my business – a place where parents not only feel comfortable and safe, but excited to let their child explore. I have always said that I have the best job in the world, and I get paid in hugs. With the opening of Melody Magic Music Studio, my perfect job is getting even better!
RMOM: How are classes set up?
Katherine: We try to make it convenient for parents to attend classes with their children. We offer weekly Kindermusik classes and monthly playdates. Classes are set up for various age groups: 0-18 months, 1.5-4 years, and 3-6 years. We even have a 0-7 year class that brings children of all ages together for a dynamic and integrated music program for everyone. It’s a fun, family class where each child is welcomed and valued and family “together time” is celebrated. It’s perfect for families with more than one child or for friends who want to take classes together.
RMOM: Where is the new studio located?
Katherine: You can find us at 3041 Lauderdale Drive, Richmond, Va 23233. Our new studio opens in September 2011 with plenty of room for music and movement. Visitors will find our new website at http://melodymagicmusic.com and we would also love to have everyone join us on Facebook at this link.
RMOM: What can parents expect at the new location?
Katherine: Plenty! The child-friendly environment has fresh clean carpets, padded flooring for all those little falls, private bathrooms, baby-changing facilities, colorful decor, plenty of instruments, and much more. There is plenty of room for little ones to make music, dance, romp and play. Developing motor skills and enhancing many of their abilities is just part of having fun at the new studio.
RMOM: Are there any opening specials?
Katherine: Absolutely! Everyone is invited to come to our Grand Opening in September for a FREE music class. Parents can simply choose a class on the website to sign up. It will be a fun time for everyone and a great chance to see the new studio. Dates are avaialbe for the Grand Opening from Tuesday, September 6th through Saturday, September 10th. Since Open House is such a popular time, reservations will be required to ensure we have plenty of room for those attending, so early registration is important.

RMOM: Any other special programs offered?
Katherine: Children and music go hand in hand so we’ve created the perfect birthday party for boys and girls based on their ages. Parties include 45 minutes of musical fun using instruments, songs, movement, stories, and so much more fun. We customize activities for your child and the ages of the children. We can bring the party right to your home and we bring everything we need for a fun party. Prices are very reasonable and it’s a great way to encourage children to enjoy music and be more active. For those who don’t have space at home, we can host parties at our studio on Lauderdale Drive in Short Pump. Either way, kids will definitely have a blast. Parties can be booked online to make it more convenient and we’re happy to talk with you about any special requests.
RMOM: It sounds like your Grand Opening week is filling up fast. Are there other chances to test out the programs?
Katherine: Yes. Parents can visit the website and sign up for a free preview class. They will receive an invitation to join us for a fun-filled class based on child’s age, class times, and availability of space.
RMOM: Anything else we should know?
Katherine: Richmond moms and grandmoms are the best and I am so excited to make this type of interactive music program available to Richmond kids. I am grateful to all of the Richmond moms who take advantage of the opportunity to teach their children about music, movement and more at such a young age. I look forward to seeing them all at our new studio!
