Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K Family Festival at Short Pump Town Center

Mark your calendars for the Step Up for Down Syndrome 5k & Family Festival with lots of FREE entertainment.

Richmondmoms are known for stepping up when help is needed – and now the DSAGR Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K and Family Festival is asking for your support.

This year’s festival has a new logo and name that allows 100% of the funds raised to stay in the Greater Richmond area. That offers even more opportunities for DSAGR to help individuals with DS and their families right here in our communities. They have also combined the walk and run into one 5k.

What’s to enjoy?

The event is held at the Short Pump Town Center right in the heart of Short Pump, VA. There will be live music, children’s activities, pumpkin patch, Nutzy the Flying Squirrel, displays, exhibits, and lots more.

It’s all happening:

Saturday, October 8, 2011

5k Walk/Run begins @ 8:30 a.m.

FREE Family Festival 9 a.m.  – 12 noon

Participants will still enjoy all of the Buddy Walk Family Festival favorites including children’s entertainment, exhibitors, and even the pumpkin patch.

A heart-warming 5K run/walk and family festival celebrating the abilities and accomplishments of individuals with Down Syndrome in the Greater Richmond area. Enjoy lots of FREE family activities, live music by The Groove Motive, DS Superstars Ceremony, pumpkin patch and more!  Register to run, walk or volunteer at www.dsagr.com.  All proceeds benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond.

A ceremony will honor those with Down syndrome too.

It’s quick and easy to register online and fund-raising is a snap. Just register yourself, your family and your runner buddies with a click.  If donors prefer to donate by cash or check offline, just make out the check with your Down Syndrome Superstar’s name to: “Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond” and bring them to the event, or mail checks to A. Wixted/DSAGR 5k, 4400 Chatwell Road, Midlothian, VA 23113.

Can you help?

Corporate sponsors, volunteers, and exhibitors are needed too. Consider participating in any of these areas for the event.

  • Short Pump Town Center Community Room for pre-event set-up on October 7
