Barksdale Theatre BECKY’S NEW CAR (Hanover) Playful, wacky and wistful, Becky’s New Car maps out a road trip that lets the audience ride shotgun in a way most plays don’t dare. In this life-affirming story about the road  not taken, Becky – without really planning to – takes the chance to test drive another life.

Maymont X-Country Festival.   A running festival on the scenic grounds and grassy hills of Maymont.  Open to kids elementary school age and older. Check website for details and fees.

Heart Health & Stroke Screenings. Nine million Americans suffer from Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), a vascular disease where arteries in the legs become narrowed or blocked.  PAD can indicate that other arteries in the body are blocked, increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke.  Join HCA Virginia Health System for our Heart Health & Stroke events where we will provide blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol, blood sugar and PAD. The 6th Annual GoGreen Garden Festival with music, Silly Bus, boka Taco Truck, Buzz and Ned’s BBQ, wine tasting by James River Cellar, crafts, garden products, wreath making, pumpkin painting, rabbits and lots more for kids. An American Turning Point is a signature program of the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission. From 1861 to 1865 Virginia stood at the center of a military and social revolution. The exhibition opened at the Virginia Historical Society on February 4, 2011, and will travel to seven other Virginia museums from January 2012 through August 2015.

The Russian jeweler Karl Fabergé crafted objects for the Russian imperial family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including specially commissioned Easter eggs. VMFA’s collection, the largest public collection of Fabergé outside of Russia, includes five of the thirteen Russian imperial Easter eggs that are in the United States.

FMSC MobilePack event. . This weekend, hundreds of Short Pump community members will work to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between Gayton Church and Twin Cities-based Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), more than 500 volunteers will prepare 100,000 life-saving meals at an FMSC MobilePack event. Packing sessions, each beginning with a 15-minute overview of FMSC’s work around the world, will take place Sunday, September 25 at 9:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 2:00 p.m.
