James River Art League at Our Lady of Hope Health Center. The James River Art League announces an exhibition and sale of works from 25 Richmond artists from Saturday, May 4th to Thursday, May 30th at the Our Lady of Hope Health Center. This event is free and open to the public. Free event.

They Call it Stormy Weather: How Artists See the Weather and the Seasons. Explore artists’ depictions of weather from thunderstorms on powerful, wild seas to sunny skies above spring fields. The photographic reproductions are on loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Included with exhibit admission.

Puritan Cleaners 100,000 Meals for Kids – Puritan Cleaners partners with the Central Virginia Food Bank & Feedmore each Spring to raise food & funds to help feed kids during the summer months when they are out of school and the need for food increases. This year’s 100,000 Meals collection runs from May 19th to June 8th.  Bring your non-perishable food or funds to any Puritan Cleaners location.  Every donation is needed and appreciated.

Parenting an Anxious Child (Parents of Children 2-8 years).  6:30pm.  Delivered by Commonwealth Parenting.

Flying Squirrels Baseball Game6:35pm game time. Dogs get in for free, so come on out to The Diamond and participate in our dog-themed in-game promotions! Endless $1 Hot Dogs, so bring your appetite! Buy one, get one free ticket with McDonald’s receipt. First 1,000 fans receive a rally towel courtesy of McDonald’s!

Arena Racing USA at the Richmond Coliseum. Real ½ scale race cars flying around a $500,000 indoor race track that barely fits inside a hockey rink. This 2 ½ hour family-friendly show features talented drivers speeding side-by-side, jockeying and bumping, and sometimes even flipping all for the entertainment of our enthusiastic fans.

Tuesday, May 21

Natural Birth in a Hospital Setting. Meet the HCA obstetricians at Hip to be Round. 5:30pm -7pm.

Flying Squirrels Baseball Game.  6:35pm at The Diamond. Teachers are appreciated every day but at The Diamond we will honor them with their own special night. The first 1,500 fans 15 & old will receive canvas tote bag. Nutzy’s favorite friend the Phillie Phanatic returns to The Diamond to entertain fans of all ages!

DadChat (Dads of Children of all Ages).  7pm.  Free event just for dads!

Henrico Pops Chorus: Fantasies on Broadway concert at 7:30 p.m. Free!  The Henrico Pops Chorus will explore seven musical anthologies that have been created out of the dreams, fantasies, and even nightmares of their authors. The program includes selections from Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Into the Woods, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Little Shop of Horrors, Jekyll and Hyde, & Cats.

Wednesday, May 22

Member Appreciation Event at CMoR – all three museum locations will be open until 7:30, just for members! Light fare will be provided.

The Nature of Boys (Parents of boys birth- 9 years).  6:45pm. Delivered by Commonwealth Parenting.

COTU Food Truck Court.Have your favorite COTU brew along with a choice of 5-8 different food truck vendors all while enjoying the new outdoor beer garden at the brewery!  Every Wednesday, COTU invites the community to enjoy some great local food, beer, and friends.

Groovin’ in the Garden at Lewis Ginter. On May 22, 2013 Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band with special guests David Wax Museum, will perform at Groovin In The Garden at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Tickets are on sale now on the website and The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden admissions desk.

Innsbrook After Hours. Innsbrook After Hours, central Virginia’s premier concert series for the past 28 years, is bringing Richmond area residents together again for a summer of great National concerts and the best of Richmond’s local scene, at the Snagajob pavilion in Glen Allen, Va.

Chesterfield Town Center RVA Food Trucks. They will be set up outside in the parking lot at the mall entrance on Koger Center Boulevard (Outer Sears Parking Lot). Expect trucks like Soul Ice, Boka, Mr. Softy, Habanero, Almadina, Paris Creperie, The Dog Wagon, Station 2, P&T Kitchen, Grate Pizza, Chupacabra, Super Fresh, Slideways Mobile Bistro, Croaker Spot, King of Pops, Thai Cabin, Flynn’s Foods, and The Meatball Company. Tables and chairs will be set out. Each event will be based on weather permitting. Check the mall’s Facebook every Wednesday at 3 p.m. to confirm the night’s event and the RVA Foodies will post and tweet the event as well. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Berry Patch 9th Annual Strawberry Fields Festival. 11am-5pm. Free admission. Fresh strawberries, live music, craft vendors, hay rides, ponies, activities for all ages, food, coolers/chairs/dogs welcome!

9th Annual Lucy’s Weekend. Please join the Richmond SPCA and Cooper Vineyards for Lucy’s Weekend. The event is named for Lucy, a hound mix who was found on a lonely country road, terribly injured and in need of a home. She brought many years of joy to her guardian Jacque Hogge, co-owner of Cooper Vineyards, which continues to host Lucy’s Weekend in her honor. This fun weekend of events benefits and celebrates animals just like Lucy. Lawn chairs, picnics and leashed pets are welcome – come and sit a spell!

Rhonda is the mother of two adult daughters and a grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren – and our only grandmother on staff. She spent 25 years in corporate healthcare managing prenatal and disease management programs.
