Shoppers statewide are exempt from the 5% sales tax on certain school supplies priced up to $20 per item and on clothing and footwear of up to $100. Some retailers are offering additional sales-exempt specials so check with retailers. Retailers can choose to pay the tax on items not covered by the law and pay the taxes themselves.
