Don’t Miss the Kidz Connection & Camp Fair!

The 16^th annual camp and summer programs resource event, Kidz Connection & Camp Fair hosted by Style Weekly, will be at the Children’s Museum of Richmond, central location on February 14, 2015.

Aside from just being a blast for families to attend and a fun (and FREE) day out, Richmond families will find great resources about kids’ activities and services; from camps and summer programs, doctors and family photographers, to entertainment for birthday parties and special events.

•Camp Fair – helping parents make decisions on summer time options for their children. Regional camps and summer programs are represented from arts, sports, day and overnight camps.

•Style Weekly Readers’ Choice for Family Favorites Winners Circle –meet Style Weekly’s Readers’ Choice for Family Favorite businesses; our readers select their favorites and we’ve invited them all to the party, from dentists to shoe stores and haircuts, these businesses are Style readers’ favs.

•Kids Parties and Events- Kidz Connection & Camp Fair will showcase the best in entertainment options for your next party. Enjoy more fun than you can handle from Jonathan Austin, Richmond’s favorite juggler with magic up his sleeve; musical performances from Studio Performance Academy (Studio P); face painting and balloon art from All About Entertainment; and meet Nutzy, the Squirrel, from Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball and learn how to plan your next party at the diamond.

Attendance to Kidz Connection & Camp at The Children’s Museum of Richmond is FREE to the public to attend and includes free admission to the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Over 300+ families with kids have visited come to join the fun each year.

Kidz Connection & Camp Fair is sponsored by Style Weekly with support from Family Favorite Winners, Children’s Museum of Richmond and Richmondmom.

The Legend of the Poinsettia

Little Maria did not have a gift for the Baby Jesus. All she could find was a handful of weeds…but, because she gave from her heart,

the weeds turned into beautiful red flowers. This is the story of the Poinsettia, the Christmas plant.

“The Legend of the Poinsettia” – a story based on the Mexican legend of a pure hearted young girl who discovers the true spirit of giving. Unable to offer a gift of

material value, she picks a handful of weeds that magically transform into brilliant crimson flowers and thus the custom of giving poinsettias during the holidays is born.

The Latin Ballet’s production of “The Legend of the Poinsettia” elegantly portrays the Hispanic traditions of the season.

Dances and music demonstrate cultural celebrations with aguinaldos, gaitas, rumbas and plenas.

The spiritual reverence of the Season is combined with the joy and laughter of the traditional festivities of dance and song.

Rose Festival-Lewis Ginter

This weekend is the perfect time to stop and smell the roses at the brand new Rose Fest at Lewis Ginter. The Rose Garden at Lewis Ginter will be the stage for live opera and ballet performances throughout the weekend. And many roses just happen to be in bloom. Saturday: Capitol Opera Richmond from 12:15 – 1 p.m. and 1:45 – 2:30 p.m.; Sunday: Latin Ballet of Virginia from 12:15 – 1 p.m. and 1:45 – 2:30 p.m. Admission: $12 adults; $11 seniors; $8 children age 3 – 12; free for children under 3 and members. In the event of rain, activities will move inside.
