This is an AMAZING opportunity for Richmond families!
On September 18, 2013, Brandywine Realty Trust and the Lingerfelt Companies will host The Amazing Raise 5k at the Boulders, a run/walk that winds through the beautifully landscaped roads and serene trails of the Boulders Office Park. The event is a true celebration of our community as it coincides with the first day of GiveRichmond’s 3rd Annual Amazing Raise, a 36-hour online giving challenge that has raised more than $1.8 million for local charities over the past two years.
The race creates an opportunity for both individuals and teams to not only run for fun and personal wellness, but also campaign for their favorite nonprofit organizations and encourage philanthropy among their peers.
Helping Others
A portion of every registration, as well as sponsorships from local businesses, will fund grant prizes that will allow runners an opportunity to compete on behalf of their favorite charities. There are both individual and team prizes available. Winners will designate an Amazing Raise charity to receive their prize of up to $1,000.

Team CJ is at it again this year too! They’re officially a team in the Amazing Raise 5k and they invite YOU to register and walk or run with them in support of CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation! Join “Team CJ” while registering and get ready to enjoy a beautiful race (or lovely walk) for a wonderful cause.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Amazing Raise 5K at the Boulders pre- and post-race celebration. It is a great opportunity to:
- Gather together as a community to cheer on the Amazing Raise 5K runners and walkers
- Enjoy a fun night out with friends and neighbors
- Celebrate the generous spirit of giving that helps define RVA
Food and beer trucks will begin sales at 5:30 pm, with additional festivities continuing until 9:00 pm.
Live music will be provided by The Cedar Creek Band beginning at 7:00 pm. We encourage you to include family and friends for this fun and festive evening.

Rebuilding Together Richmond, a housing non-profit that Capital One supports, is an organization that benefits many people in the Richmond area. There 5k is coming up!
The Run to Rebuild Richmond 5k is quickly approaching. Mark your calendars for March 23rd. All the proceeds from the race will go to Rebuilding Together, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating affordable housing while rebuilding and revitalizing communities in Richmond!
The event is open to both runners and walkers. They have had participants as young as 7 and as old as 75 in the last couple of years. It’s a very friendly race and has a great course through one of the neighborhoods off River Road. It’s a much smaller event than some, so could be a good warm up for later running or walking events you might have planned in the Spring.

Where the Money Goes
- Rebuilding Together Richmond is able to leverage each $1 donated and deliver $4 of housing improvements to elderly and disabled homeowners in the area.
- For each $25 registration fee you make, RTR can make $100 worth of improvements to a local home.
That’s worth the run/walk and time it takes – that’s definitely bang for your buck!

The Linwood Holton Elementary PTA’s 13th Annual Holton Hustle 5k Fest, formerly known as Holton 5k Run/Walk Festival is coming soon!
This event will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 9am to 1pm. They are in the process of updating their event site to reflect all of the wonderful changes and 2013 event. Be sure and mark your calendar for this event now.
Early Bird registration will be available in the near future which may also include some cool discounts or prizes… so if you want to be IN on this, make sure you subscribe to their event site to receive updates via email AND like the event fanpage on Facebook.

2013 has lots of opportunities to get and stay fit while supporting important causes. And now you can register for the Westchester Shamrock 5k and 1k Fun Run for fun, fitness, and support!
The 2nd Annual Westchester Shamrock 5K and 1K Fun Run will be held on March 16, 2013. Start time: 9:00 a.m. on Main Street.
Come and compete in this fun filled timed run/walk event that is held in the beautiful Westchester Commons Shopping Center, and the Shoppes at Westchester, located in Chesterfield County, VA. Family Members and spectators can line Main Street to cheer on the racers! Enjoy free admission to the festivities, including music, sports demonstrations, food, and family fun. Stop by the Bon Secours Health & Fitness Zone for helpful tips and information, giveaways, and samples.
1k Fun Run
The Kids 1k Fun Run is open to children ages 12 and younger. It will be untimed and start and finish on Main Street.
Join our sponsor mascots, the Chick-Fil-A Cow, Bonnie, Broc, and other characters as they celebrate and praise the children for embracing a healthy life style at the start and finish line. Come early and get a lucky shamrock painted on your child’s face.
Each child participating in the Kids 1k Fun Run will receive an official race bib and Westchester Shamrock Fun Run Medal.
Benefit
This event benefits programs which tackle the issues of childhood obesity. $500 is donated to P.E. departments for the elementary/middle/high schools with the most attendance.
The 2012 winners were JB Watkins Elementary, Tomahawk Creek Middle, and James River High. Additional, money was donated to Movin’ Mania, an interactive program for Virginia’s youth to learn and practice healthier habits.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving has their annual awareness/fundraising event, Walk Like MADD, coming up on April 13 at Dorey Park.
There is a $5 discount for folks that register for Walk Like MADD prior to January 1, making the registration $15. It would be a great holiday gift for people to form Walk teams and get friends to join their team or support them as a walker. People can actually walk or sign up as virtual walkers.
