Unfortunately, we either know someone who has had cancer or we have had cancer ourselves. It’s a devastating diagnosis that hits like a punch in the stomach. But fortunately, many cancers today are treatable and curable. Even more disturbing is the increaseing number of children diagnosed with cancer.
ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation was established to “Make Life Better for Children with Cancer.” The non-profit organization provides financial, spiritual, social and emotional support directly to over 1,000 children and their families annually.
The upcoming ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation event is one way to help increase awareness and support research for cancer in kids. It’s a way to enjoy a fun evening out on September 17, 2011, and support fundraising to help kids with cancer and their families.
“The Great Escape: A Night in New Orleans” at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts features:
- Live music from “The Doctors of Jazz” and “Second Nature”
- A casino royale of roulette, Black Jack and more
- Silent and live auctions with fabulous vacation packages, fine dining experiences and goods or services from local Richmond businesses
The event is held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in the Cochrane Atrium and it promises to be a gala event. Tickets must be purchased by September 15 so click now and reserve your spot.
ZTOBERFEST CAR SHOW AND EVENT
ASK Childhood Cancer Research is also preparing for their ZTOBERFEST Car Show and Event on Sunday, October 9, 2011. It all starts at 9:00 a.m. with car show staging and judging at noon to 3:00 p.m. Awards are planned for 3:30 p.m.
Sheehy Nissan in Mechanicsville is hosting the event and Z Car Association of Richmond celebrates the 10th Annual Ztoberfest. Food items and beverages will be available with proceeds going to the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation to support patients and their families. Raffles will be held throughout the day and will support the work of ASK as well.
