I’ve known Julie Matre for years, so when she recently returned back home to Richmond
after living in North Carolina I couldn’t be more thrilled. Not only is she a wonderful person, she’s a creative
artisan as well.
Julie began crafting her designs–which I’ve dubbed “funky cool”–several years ago and bringing them to our shared workplace. It didn’t take long for word to spread, and when she moved to North Carolina she established Julie Matre Designs and sold her wares through a shop there. Now, she’s brought her business to Crossroads Art Center. If you’re not familiar with Crossroads, they are a unique spot on Staples Mill Road and Broad Streets where local artisans exhibit their work.
