But if you have a family now, then chances are you now spend New Year’s Eve thinking, “Do I really have to stay up until midnight?”

Noon Year’s Eve at Science Museum of Virginia

Ring in the Noon Year with the Museum! Count down to noon to see a dramatic and quirky version of the traditional ball drop! Kick off the New Year with science on your side. Watch 2,018 bouncy balls, paper streamers and confetti bring our Rotunda to life for a special ball drop and apple juice toast to celebrate the New Year. Note: the Museum will open at 9:30 am for this exciting event!  Noon Year’s Eve is included with Museum admission.  All ages are welcome at this fun and festive take on New Year’s Eve.

Noon Year’s Eve Bash!

Ring in the New Year with your friends at CMoR (Children’s Museum of Richmond). ALL CMoR locations will be open on New Year’s Eve and hosting their own special twist on a classic New Year’s celebration. Take part in a special presentation about clocks and the importance of time, participate in Seymour’s grand parade, then countdown to noon with a juice box toast! CMoR Central will also feature a special confetti room and an Education Extravaganza!  Free with museum admission.

Celebrate the season at Maymont and revel in Victorian holiday splendor! Major and Mrs. Dooley’s spectacularly decorated Gilded Age home brings the wonders and festivities of Christmas past to life. Beautiful trimmings on the 12-foot Christmas tree, the opulent dining room set for a feast, evergreen decorations and lavish gifts welcome the season in grand Victorian style. In the Belowstairs area, preparations are underway to make the Dooleys’ first Christmas in their new home special for their family and friends – and to put everyone in the holiday spirit!
