Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli Create a “Perfect Symphony”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or simply haven’t had the chance to listen to anything other than the Moana soundtrack in awhile), you know who Ed Sheeran is. This young British singer has been topping the pop charts since his first album in 2011. As for Andrea Bocelli, his name has been synonymous with classical music since he first burst onto the scene in the early 1990s. All of that to say, given their musical styles, genres, and backgrounds, they would seem an unlikely pairing for a duet.

But as we all know, sometimes it’s the things that seem to fit together the least that often end up being the best surprises of all. Nowhere could that be truer than in this duet performed at Bocelli’s home studio in Tuscany, Italy.

The 59-year old Italian tenor first learned of Sheeran from his sons, both of whom are huge fans. In the meantime, according to the Evening Standard, Sheeran had been looking to do a collaboration. And so despite a 30 year age gap and vastly different musical styles, the two made a plan. In March of this year, Sheeran flew to Tuscany to meet with Bocelli and his sons.

In just a matter of hours, the pair recorded Sheeran’s track “Perfect” which will be featured on his upcoming album, Divide. Sheeran’s beautiful lyrics and velvety voice combine perfectly with Bocelli’s rich tenor and effortless tone. The end result is nothing short of breathtaking.

Needless to say, this is the kind of track that you end up putting on repeat without even realizing you’re doing it. And while it’s a truly beautiful song, what sets it apart is the way that it transcends genres, bringing together two amazing talents into something that is nothing short of “Perfect.”

And now all you have to do is just sit back and enjoy the music…which starts about a minute into the video, just in case you were wondering!
