Let’s Play a Love Game http://richmondmom.com/2013/02/14/lets-play-a-love-game/ http://richmondmom.com/2013/02/14/lets-play-a-love-game/#comments Thu, 14 Feb 2013 22:31:34 +0000 http://richmondmom.com/?p=38911 I love these people. After all, they put up with me on a daily basis.

I love these people. After all, they put up with me on a daily basis.

No, I’m not channeling Lady Gaga here. That chick is waaaaay too hip for me.

In the craziness of our three-job, three-kid, hour-commute to work life it was a struggle to make my way through the candies and

flowers this Valentine’s Day. So, I came up with an idea that I’m hoping is even worthy of those fabulously-crafty folks on Pinterest.

I decided to tell my family how much that I loved them, and in a way that we could all interact together for just a few moments at the

end of our day.

Here’s a list of my supplies:

heart love to shop

This one’s for my little girl.

Now THAT’s a list I can handle on top of my mama-sized daily responsibility list. Supplies in hand, I cut out paper hearts, and one by one, wrote a little note about why I love each of my three kids and my husband on one side of each heart, and  a question mark on the other side.

After writing out five “why I love you’s” per family member, I arranged allof the hearts on my bedroom floor, out of the way of prying little eyes, because we need to wait for our oldest son to get home from an after-school activity.

Later tonight, after dinner, baths, and homework madness we’ll sit down and one-by-one, we’ll read each heart and try to figure out

which one belongs to which family member. (True Confession: I can hardly wait I’m so freaking excited, even though it’ll all probably be over in five minutes.) Some will be easy to figure out, some may be a challenge. My hope is that all are treasured.

At the end of our “game” I do have a little treat for each of them, but this game could easily be fantastic without one store-bought item. If it creates a lasting memory, I’ll have succeeded in creating a little special time with my most-treasured peeps.

If they can feel just a tiny bit of the gigantic love that I have for them, it’ll be the best Valentine’s Day ever.
