It’s our favorite season — Wine Down season!
Each month we give away great prizes, soak up a relaxed atmosphere, chow down on delicious free appetizers and have a really great time… who knew philanthropy could be this fun?!

If you haven’t joined us for Wine Down yet here’s what you can expect:

– $10 at the door goes directly to charity.

– Generous glasses of wine at a great discount.

-Delicious FREE appetizers provided by The Wine Loft (if you haven’t been there yet, you’re in for a real treat).

– Raise more money for the selected non-profit by purchasing raffle tickets and winning great prizes.

-Meet new people (like Richmondmoms Christa and Sarah) and network or grab a quiet spot for you and a friend to enjoy a kid-free night to catch up.

As much as $1,000 is raised each month in just a couple hours at each event at the Wine Loft so feel good about connecting with other parents, family-focused businesses and raising money for a great cause.

This month we’re raising funds for Junior Achievement of Central Virginia!

Junior Achievement of Central Virginia small

Junior Achievement (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success. Delivered by positive adult role models who volunteer their time, JA programs encourage students to be entrepreneurial and financially literate while preparing them for the 21st century workforce. Partnering with over 250 area businesses and community organizations – as well as Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Petersburg and Richmond school systems – JA serves over 25,000 students in Central Virginia annually through 2,173 dedicated volunteers. Junior Achievement also works with schools and educators to match JA programs to the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL’s) so that JA lessons support and reinforce existing state-mandated expectations for student learning.  Recent evaluation results indicate that students score 31% higher on financial assessments than their peers, after participating in JA.

Lupus Posing Around the Walk (24)Join the Lupus Foundation of America, DC/MD/VA Chapter on October 11, 2014 at Bon Secours Red Skins Training Camp for the 6th Annual Virginia Walk to End Lupus Now.

Because lupus can be extremely debilitating, the walk is short (less than 2 miles) so that everyone can participate, you could even take the route twice! A short walk also makes this event perfect for families with small children to get outside and make a difference!  Information will be available about lupus on site, face painting and balloon animals for the kids, as well as a post-walk celebration.

end lupus nowOur signature walks build momentum and provide funding for the Lupus Foundation of America, DC/MD/VA Chapter to provide FREE education, support, and outreach services to the more than 40,000 people living with lupus in Virginia. The Virginia Walk to End Lupus Now attracts over 1,000 walkers who unite on Walk day to take steps towards a cure and raise awareness about this little known disease. Our Walk continues grow each year through increased media coverage and its ability to connect a population that lives with a very lonely disease. Walk day is a powerful experience that provides the local lupus community with hope and renewed energy to overcome challenges associated with lupus. Register at www.VirginiaWalktoEndLupus.org today!

Silly Bus is Giving Back for Needy Kids: They Need Your Help http://richmondmom.com/2011/12/12/silly-bus-is-giving-back-for-needy-kids-they-need-your-help/ http://richmondmom.com/2011/12/12/silly-bus-is-giving-back-for-needy-kids-they-need-your-help/#comments Mon, 12 Dec 2011 18:04:40 +0000 http://richmondmom.com/?p=16123 Silly Bus is joining forces with Happy Family and Project Peanut Butter for a special fund raising campaign.  Project Peanut Butter seeks to help feed malnourished children in Africa by providing, you guessed it, peanut butter. It is a tremendous source of inexpensive nutrition for kids. Silly Bus is giving $5.00 from the sale of each CD download to help raise funds for the program.

Generation Happy theme for December is “Giving Back”.  Throughout the month of December we have teamed up to raise even more money towards this fabulous cause.  HAPPYFAMILY, Silly Bus and Project Peanut Butter share a common goal, to give children everywhere the healthiest food to maximize their development and optimize their growth.

YOU can help.  When you download the latest album Classic Children’s Songs from Silly Bus, 50% of every digital download will go to Project Peanut Butter. All you have to do is enter “peanutbutter” in the discount code field to participate! These songs will be great to keep those kiddos entertained during long car rides this holiday season and for months to come.

All physical and digital album downloads are part of this holiday campaign. Please download by December 31st to ensure that proceeds go to the charity: Project Peanut Butter.
