]]>Carin Jayne Casey is a Richmond mom and grandmother who is launching her publishing career unlike most local authors–she’s doing so under a pen name.
Because her first book focuses on the abuse of the little girl for whom the book is named and is loosely based on experiences from Carin’s own upbringing, she chooses to write anonymously.
My Dear Rosa Jean, published by Abbot Press, the story surrounds the child’s violent and erratic upbringing as the eldest of six children and resulting tumultuous relationships that ensue in her adult life.
Carin hopes that through Rosa Jean’s story, she’ll be able to share common abuse characteristics to educate readers and to heighten awareness to the prevalence of domestic and child violence.
Over three million accounts of abuse are reported each year according to ChildHelp, and the author’s site, CarinJayneCasey.com has a fantastic list of resources for those seeking help. Her second book, Granny Babysits The Mischievous Five, was just released this week, and we’ll be sharing more on that in
a future post.
“This fiction based on a “true life story” kept me spellbound from chapter-to-chapter. A very well written work that took me right into Rosa Jean’s world, which was a true roller coaster of emotions. Its so hard to imagine that those whose paths we might cross in our everyday walks of life may be dealing with such agonizing situations. But on that same note, its amazing how the victim’s strength, courage and faith allowed her to overcome and escape her living nightmare.” Mystrotic – Barnes & Noble
