It’s time to Wine Down at The Wine Loft!
Call your friends, get your sitter, do whatever you need to do to make sure you’re hanging out with us Wednesday April 1, 2015.

Each month we give away great prizes, soak up a relaxed atmosphere, chow down on delicious free appetizers and have a really great time… who knew philanthropy could be this fun?!
If you haven’t joined us for Wine Down yet here’s what you can expect:
– $10 at the door goes directly to charity.
– Generous glasses of wine at a great discount.
-Delicious FREE appetizers provided by The Wine Loft (if you haven’t been there yet, you’re in for a real treat).
– Raise more money for the selected non-profit by purchasing raffle tickets and winning great prizes.
-Meet new people (like Richmondmoms Christa and Sarah) and network or grab a quiet spot for you and a friend to enjoy a kid-free night to catch up.

As much as $1,000 is raised each month in just a couple hours at each event at the Wine Loft so feel good about connecting with other parents, family-focused businesses and raising money for a great cause.

In April we raise a glass (and some funds) for the incredible work done by Safe Harbor.

Safe Harbor is the only dedicated sexual and intimate partner violence program in Henrico County. Our mission is to empower survivors of sexual and domestic violence to transform their lives, and to promote healthy relationships for all. SafeHarbor offers comprehensive services for survivors of sexual and/or intimate partner violence including: A 24-hour helpline, children/youth services, community education and training, trauma-informed counseling, court advocacy, emergency shelter and hospital accompaniment. All of our services are confidential and free of charge to anyone seeking help. We are here to create a community filled with happy, healthy relationships. Join us!

Last year over 10,000 people attended the family-friendly St. Paddy’s Day Palooza a benefit for St. Baldrick’s Innsbrook is gearing up to help you shake off the winter doldrums and enjoy everything Irish! Families can enjoy live music, Irish dancing, bands, food, inflatable: slide, moon bounce, and obstacle course, ice cream, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides and a hot air balloon.  Free to attend.

March 21 & 22, 2015

Church Hill Irish Festival
March 21 10:00 am – 7:00 pm.
March 22 the HillTopper 5K race will begin at 8:00 am. The festival closes at 6:00 pm

In addition to great entertainment, there will be plenty of family fun, including children’s games, a large children’s play area, face painting and Irish-themed crafts. Over thirty Irish vendors will be in attendance. Food and refreshments will also be available. Enjoy wonderful “Irish Lasagna” prepared by the Ladies of St. Patrick’s, “Fish and Chips” and other favorites provided by Rare Olde Times Irish Pub, and many more.
A $5.00 donation will be collected at the gate, proceeds benefit neighborhood causes as well as St. Baldrick’s Society and the historic preservation of St. Patrick’s Church.

The 16^th annual camp and summer programs resource event, Kidz Connection & Camp Fair hosted by  Style Weekly, will be at the Children’s Museum of Richmond, central location on February 14, 2015.

Aside from just being a blast for families to attend and a fun (and FREE) day out, Richmond families will find great resources  about kids’ activities and services; from camps and summer programs, doctors and family photographers, to entertainment for birthday parties and special events.

•Camp Fair – helping parents make decisions on summer time options for their children. Regional camps and summer programs are represented from arts, sports, day and overnight camps.

•Style Weekly Readers’ Choice for Family Favorites Winners Circle –meet Style Weekly’s Readers’ Choice for Family Favorite businesses; our readers select their favorites and we’ve invited them all to the party, from dentists to shoe stores and haircuts, these businesses are Style readers’ favs.

•Kids Parties and Events- Kidz Connection & Camp Fair will showcase the best in entertainment options for your next party.  Enjoy more fun than you can handle from Jonathan Austin, Richmond’s favorite juggler with magic up his sleeve; musical performances from Studio Performance Academy (Studio P); face painting and balloon art from All About Entertainment; and meet Nutzy, the Squirrel, from Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball and learn how to plan your next party at the diamond.

Attendance to Kidz Connection & Camp at The Children’s Museum of Richmond is  FREE to the public to attend and includes free admission to the Children’s Museum of Richmond.  Over 300+ families with kids have visited come to join the fun each year.

The Jewish Food Festival will be held at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center from 11:30am-7:30pm.

Live music will play all day Sunday and in the evening on Monday including JJ Caplan and the Soul Seekers, My Son the Doctor and Klezm’Or’Ami’m.

If you’re picking up food to go you’ll be able to order online both days here.

SMV has a pretty spectacular evening planned for their Science After Dark series!
Fire dancers will light up the way to the museum on October 17.  Inside, kids and adults can get hands on and discover the wonders of luminescence and phosphorescence.

If you haven’t been to this event yet, it’s a blast and definitely worth the trip out for a night of glow-in-the-dark fun with crafts, games and experiments.

Families can go blacklight bowling, taste a glowing drink, watch black light dancers perform, discover how Non-Newtonian fluid reacts on a subwoofer and, children of the 70s and 80s get ready, play with a giant Lite-Brite.  The Science Museum of Virginia is packing the evening full of luminescent activities for everyone to enjoy.

Take a trip to the most spectacular light show of all in The Dome theater with a special 6:30 pm astronomy presentation, The Glow of the Universe before heading outside to stargaze with the Richmond Astronomical Society, or get glowing with Mentos geyser eruptions, jewelry-making, music and more.

SMV will also host special screening of the classic film, Tron, at 8 pm in The Dome.

Science After Dark is a monthly evening event held on the third Friday of the month at the Science Museum of Virginia. The next Science After Dark will be held on Friday, December 19.
