This is an awesome untimed bike ride that begins at 8:00 p.m. at Sports Backers Stadium. It’s the perfect family-friendly event and Richmond moms and dads always enjoy participating.
The event features a “Full Moon” (17 mile) route and a “Half Moon” (8 mile) route through Lakeside, Bryan Park and the near West End making it fun for everyone. ‘Wave starts’ will help alleviate course congestion, and each wave is limited to 450 participants. There is a 3-hour course limit.
Best of all, kids and adults will enjoy lots of fun too. Live music from Farm Vegas, a post-ride party and plenty of fun awaits cyclists at the finish line. Prizes will be awarded for “Best Costume” and “Best Decorative Lights” in group and individual divisions.
As the official charity of the Anthem Moonlight Ride, Greater Richmond Fit4Kids is a local non-profit organization created to improve the health and wellness of children by increasing physical activity and promoting healthy eating. The Virginia 529 Kids Run is a one-mile event for kids ages 5-12 that features all of the excitement of the 10k. They’ll kick off the morning by warming up with music and mingling with some local mascots until the start gun goes off. After racing their little hearts out, they’ll finish to the roar of a crowd through the same chute as the 10k-ers, where they’ll get a commemorative medal and head into a secure meeting area. Don’t forget to pick them up, because post-race food and festivities await. You have plenty of time to cheer them on before starting your own race.
Get ready to run and/or cheer on those who are participating in the Monument 10k this weekend, Saturday, March 31 starting at 8:00 a.m with the Kids Run and then 8:30 a.m. for the race.
