Romp n’ Roll Camp

The officially-fun, officially-famous Romp n’ Roll Summer Camp will run weekly May 26 through September 4 for children ages 2 through 5 years, no potty training required. 

Our daily schedule is action-packed with “kid-tested, Rompy-approved” sessions including incredible gym, art and music activities! It’s like a big kids’ camp on training wheels; all the fun, learning, and excitement but without the poison ivy!

Camp will be offered at all Richmond Romp n’ Roll locations in the following sessions:

Tuesday and Thursday 9am – noon

Tuesday and Thursday 2pm – 5pm (not offered at Mechanicsville)

Camp Registration Fee is $70 per 2-day week and includes a nut-free snack and drink each day. Register before May 31st and the registration fee is only $65.

A discount of 15% applies to additional siblings registered for the same week of camp, and if you register for four weeks or more you will also receive 10 free visits to Open Gym!

Romp n’ Roll Summer Camp at the Children’s Museum of Richmond

The officially-fun, officially-famous Romp n’ Roll Summer Camp is coming back to the Children’s Museum of Richmond!

Camp will run weekly June 1 through August 14 at the Central and Chesterfield locations for children ages 2 through 5 years, no potty training required. We start every day with supervised exploratory play in the museum, where our lucky campers have the entire place to themselves, and then move on to action-packed music, movement and art activities!

Camp will be offered in the following sessions at both locations:

5-Day Option: Monday through Friday, 9am – 12pm

3-Day Option: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am – 12pm

2-Day Option: Tuesday and Thursday, 9am – 12pm

Camp also has flexible 15 minute pick-up and drop-off windows each day to accommodate busy summer schedules!

Camp Registration Fee is $175 for the 5-Day Option, $105 for the 3-Day Option and $70 for the 2-Day Option, which includes a nut-free snack and drink each day.

Our program has been serving Henrico County for over 18 years and is designed to meet each child’s needs based on age appropriate and self-confidence building activities.  We call our camp an adventure camp, because your child will get to experience so many things during their summer with us!  We will have multiple field trips each week, such as bowling, swimming and skating, as well as, motivational Martial Arts Classes every day.  In addition, we will have exciting theme days that let your child get creative with arts and crafts, music, indoor rock climbing and other sports and interests.  They will be having lots of fun, while building character, self-discipline, and increasing their self-esteem. Each summer, SPARC’s SummerStarz performing ensemble brings a free, family-friendly performance to over 1,000 people in the community. Summerstarz rehearses for five weeks and then tours the Metro Richmond area for several performances, from July 20-24, 2015.

Sabot’s summer programming offers a combination of one-week, themed, morning camps, as well as a full-day option, Like Summers Used to Be. Each week-long offering provides children with engaging opportunities for exploring and developing skills, sparking new ideas and interests, and fostering imagination and enthusiasm for the world around them.
Like Summers Used to Be is tailored to the needs of parents for whom summer can mean a long interruption in childcare arrangements and routines. The sessions are organized in such a way that families can enroll for the entire summer, through August 7th, (note, we will be closed the week of June 29 – July 3), or for any number and combination of weeks. Families can also choose to enroll in a morning camp and add Like Summers Used to Be for the afternoon.
Our summer program is open to all children in the Greater Richmond area. The week-long, themed camps are designed for children ages 4 – 7. Summer Investigators Science Camp. A real-life experience where girls will assume the roles of forensic investigators as they solve a mock crime. Sylvan Learning Summer Camps 
During the summer, most parents default to enrolling their child in a general summer camp or sylvan favorites logorgbsports clinic, but what if there was an option for kids to explore an academic interest and build a competitive edge in the classroom? The Sylvan Learning Center of Richmond is introducing Math Edge — a new activity this summer for kids to build math skills and avoid summer learning loss.

Designed for kids in grades one through five, Math Edge helps nurture students’ natural math ability and builds on core math concepts in a fun, kid-friendly learning environment alongside other kids with
similar interests. Well-trained teachers manage the small sessions of 12 students or less and offer encouragement, motivation and rewards in an effort to foster independent learning and encourage students to set personal goals. Math Edge is a unique learning experience that also allows students to build camaraderie with a small group of their peers.

Tech Em Studios is an after-school technology program that offers classes, camps and training focused on applied computer science and computer-aided design. VMFA has fun summer camps this summer, with over a hundred week-long studio art camps and classes! Children’s annual Summer Art Adventures & teens’ Summer in the Studio programs run for eight weeks. These exciting programs encourage children and teens to create, learn, grow, and have fun! Each camp is tailored to a specific age group and provides access to professional materials, expert instruction, and a world-renowned art collection.

Visual Arts Center of Richmond Summer ArtVenture Camp
Week-long studio art classes in a positive, nurturing learning environment. Each class provides focused attention on a specific media, skill or subject, and each week brings a selection of unique choices. All classes are taught by a professional artist and artists-educators who will help inspire and develop individual expression. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per class to allow for individual instruction and learning. Some classes integrate teamwork or collaborative projects.

VCUarts Film Camp
The Dept of Photography and Film at VCU is offering Film Camp over

Charlottesville Ballet Summer Dance Camps is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit dance school that offers Summer Camps for students ages 3-10 years old and Summer Classes for ages 3-Adult. Heart of Ireland
Our 4-day Irish dance camps will give your dancer a taste of both group and solo Irish dancing. Camps meet Monday to Thursday for 2 hours each day – in one week, your dancer will receive the equivalent of 8 weeks of classes! Beginners will learn the basics of soft shoe dancing and show off their skills at an end-of-week mini Feis on Thursday. Campers in our Advanced Beginner/Intermediate camp will hone soft and hard shoe skills and work on drills and brush-up for the fall semester.

BARD BASICS – June 26 – 22.  New this year! Learn the acting and performance techniques that are essential to bringing Shakespeare’s words to life by diving into some of his most beloved characters: VILLAINS!  Open to rising 7-10th graders. June 22-26, 9am-3pm, performance at 4pm on final day of class. No audition required.

BARD BOOT CAMP – July 13 – 24.  Ready to roll up your sleeves and really immerse yourself in Shakespeare’s work? This exciting new two-week intensive will take students through the full process of studying and staging one of Shakespeare’s plays as they mount an abbreviated production of Hamlet on the Summer Festival stage at Agecroft Hall.  Open to rising 9-12 graders. Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm, performance on July 27 at 10am.  No audition required.

SPARC summer camps
The School of Performing Arts in the Richmond community – SPARC – has provided incredible performing arts experience to students in the Richmond area for over 30 years. SPARC has full-day and square SPARChalf-day camps for students ages 4 to 18. Our summer camps are filled with singing, acting, dancing, friends and fun! With camps from June to August, every student can find a camp to make them shine. Charter House Summer Camp for Teens with Asperger’s Syndrome
Summer is a great time for teenagers to learn new skills and make new friends. For teens with Asperger’s Syndrome or high-functioning autism, it can be a challenge to find a summer camp that fits their needs. Charterhouse School has a summer camp designed just for these students! Camp Courage is a seven-week summer day camp for rising juniors, seniors and recent high school graduates with Asperger’s Syndrome or high-functioning autism. Some children have not learned how to write; others have difficulty with spacing, letter formation, pencil grip, visual motor problems or even fatigue due to weak trunk and hand muscles.  Our specialists identify the problem and either remediate the underlying difficulties or help with compensatory strategies.  The Jumpstart Handwriting program is offered through groups at various times during the school year and through a summer camp before school starts in the fall.

A therapeutic, self-esteem building camp designed to develop motor skills, self awareness, self-regulation, social skills, and confidence in children ages 6-10.  KIM incorporates sensory integration strategies, relaxation techniques, social skills training and, self-regulation strategies and perceptual motor skill challenges in a peer group environment.   KIM is offered for two weeks, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily.

Gives students the opportunity to reinforce and retain their academic skills in our relaxed, yet structured, atmosphere. For four weeks in the summer, students can receive instruction in language arts, math, handwriting/written expression and social skills. Many students are able to participate through Extended School Year (ESY) services provided by their local school system. Northstar also provides 1:1 instruction in the Lindamood Bell Learning Process courses; Visualizing and Verbalizing, Seeing Stars and On Cloud Nine math.
