Social Media for Moms

By Kate Semp

Today is the big day! Somehow Kate was able to squeeze more into her days and today is the launch of Richmondmom.com PRINT Magazine inside Richmond GRID!

Richmondmom.com in it’s premier issue focuses on Social Media. Besides the same great style of Richmondmom.com you will find information on how a variety of people use Social Media. It’s definitely not one size fits all.

When I jumped into Social Media it was because I felt I could learn and network on my time and around the schedules of the rest of my family. But I have gotten so much more than that from the experience. Last month the Social Media Club of Richmond (#smcrva) held an informative and FUN event hosted at the Theatre IV’s Empire Theatre. Besides the opportunity to learn some new things I got to laugh and meet people: new people and those that I had been communicating with online for awhile but had never had the chance to meet in real life. For a moment there was this group of Richmond Tweeters, who are also moms, that I got to meet and give hugs. A chance to look someone in the eye and thank them for their friendship and support. Social Media has not replaced relationships in my life it has opened doors. What we do when we go through that door is up to us.

In Richmond we have some great bloggers that help you find a bargain and used those skills to help others!
You can find about about fun local events – Theatre IV, Science Museum of Virginia @TheatreIV @ScienceMusofVA

Do you like numbers to tell the story? Holly Pavlika of Big Fuel has a great post The survey says: Brands should connect with Social Media Moms and their blogs

I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family and Twitter for more public use. I also like the Twitter not just because it is quick and simple, short and sweet but also I prefer the Twitter Apps on my phone versus any use of Facebook on my phone.

And the next time you have a question you need answered and looking for a little support and can find what you need. Login to Twitter and ask! Just remember to use #rva!
Join us on Twitter! Feel free to follow us and/or your Twitter handle in the comments so others can follow you!
