2 Must-see shows for 2010 Holidays in Richmond

We recently saw White Christmas and The Velveteen Rabbit, two shows in Richmond that are running through the holiday season. Here’s the scoop:

White Christmas: It’s recommended for children 6+, and I personally think adults will find this wonderland of Christmas past will kick-off the season beautifully, so it’s a perfect date night without the kids.  The music was upbeat and lively, and the wardrobe amazing–it was like stepping back in time with amazing characters that will make you want to get up and dance.  It’s based on Irving Berlin’s classic brought to live in the 1954 movie starring Bing Crosby & Danny Kaye, with a new twist and some snappy dances and tricks to boot.

The Velveteen Rabbit, a Theatre IV production is perfect for Richmond kids ages three and up, and it’s the perfect length–one hour–to hold the little one’s attention while you walk into the story book we all know and love. There are plenty of showtimes still left for you to see Theatre IV’s The Velveteen Rabbit at the Barksdale Theatre, enjoy the show with a darling little boy who loves his stuffed bunny so much that he actually brings him to life. Butterflies, dancing toys, and a set that is quite magical will entrap you in a child’s wonderland and make you realize that it is the simple gifts that do mean the most to children–like friendship. We took all of our little ones, ages eight, five and three–and they all gave rave reviews!

You can also use your Richmondmom.com Savvy Saver card for 1/2 off  children’s tickets to Theatre IV productions. A really cool plus about Theatre IV productions: it’s okay if kids make a little noise. In fact, it’s quite expected. Enjoy darling cupcakes by Frostings after the production, too.
