Attend the Wedding or the West End Farmers Market Opening?

The West End Farmers Market opens April 30, 2011.

With spring and summer approaching, it seems that Richmonders just can’t wait for the farmer’s markets to open– and there is good reason with all of the local farmers and vendors who offer the freshest products and services possible.

The newest Richmond area farmer’s market,  My Goochland Market, opens its doors to the public on May 7, 2011 at 68 Broad Street in Manakin-Sabot. They’re just 10 minutes from Short Pump Mall.

Not to be outdone, the West End Farmers Market opens on April 30, 2011. This market was established in 2009 to bring fresh products and local farmers together for a “farm to family” experience. It’s a great place to buy locally grown, seasonal foods and items to help sustain our farms and local community.

What’s there?

Not sure what you’ll find at The West End Market? Then take a look at some of the choices:

  • Locally grown fruits and vegetables
  • Herbs and flowers
  • Homemade pasta
  • Pies
  • Breads
  • Jams
  • Premium lamb, poultry, beef, seafood, eggs and cheese
  • Artisan merchandise
  • Handmade jewelry
  • Original oil paintings

What a fun place to take children and grandchildren and teach them about sustainable farming and supporting our community. They’ll enjoy the many children’s activities and samples of fresh, wholesome foods. It’s a great place for families and friends to gather too.

Hours

The West End Market is open Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and Saturday’s 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon starting April 30. They’re located at 12450 Gayton Road at the intersection of Ridgefield Parkway and Gayton Road. Click here for directions.

Hmmmm……I’m not sure what to do on April 30th. My daughter is getting married that day at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Should I try to attend the seasonal opening day of the market or get ready for the wedding? Maybe I’ll do both!

So many decisions….so little time!
