Plenty of weekend family-friendly activities and events!

The weekend is filled with lots of fun events and activities for children and families. Check out some of them and let us know if you have others. We’ll be happy to include them on Richmondmom.com!

Friday, May 20

  • Target $1 Family Night from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Richmond – Central.
  • Science Museum of Virginia at 8:30 p.m.. FREE event weather permitting. Richmond Astronomical Society shares telescopes on the front lawn.
  • Powhatan Fair all weekend long!
  • Kids Layne annual spring/summer sale at Canterbury Shopping Center. Lots of great bargains on designer clothes and more. Friday through Sunday, May 20-22
  • HONK! is here again at Empire Theatre. Call 804.282.2620 with questions.

Saturday, May 21

  • In Tha Muthahood. A full day of fun, prizes, music and more. Plenty of time to connect with other women and laughs. Mary Kay, Richmond Flying Squirrels, Squirrels Girls, Occasionally made, Stadium Stompers, Anna Satalino Photography, and America’s Funniest Mom, Anita Renfroe! Young women, moms, grandmas, moms-to-be – join the fun all day. Check website for full schedule.
  • Girl Scout Tea Party at Maymont Mansion 10:30-12 noon – for moms and their daughters. See website for details.
  • 4th Annual Wellesly 5K Fun Run at at The Shoppes at Wellesley – 3400  Lauderdale Drive.
  • Water Play at Lewis Ginter – bring a towel and enjoy the water –  at Lewis ginter from 9 am – 5 pm. Included with Garden admission. Visit the website for more information.
  • May Play Day at Meadowview Park. Old-fashioned fun and games, crafts, gardening and more. Call Elaine Olay at 804.343.3506 with quesitons. It’s FREE!
  • Powhatan Fair all weekend long.
  • For Moms and Dads –  The Flavor Beer, Wine & Food Fest is Saturday and Sunday from 11 am until 6 pm both days, at the SnagAJob Pavilion at Innsbrook. Entry is FREE and food and beverage samples are pay-as-you-go. More than 50 craft beers from around the world, Virginia wines and local restaurants will be featured.

Sunday, May 22

  • Full Circle Annual Round Up. From 2-6 p.m. in Innsbrook enjoy K95 radio station, Jonathan the Juggler, Virginia Fishing Adventures, moonbounces, rock climbing wall, games, crafts, barbecue, beverages and great prizes and fun. A great family-fun day. Children under 10 years FREE. Visit website to purchase advance tickets.
  • Lewis Ginter Children’s Garden Spring Fling from 1-4 p.m. Family-friendly music, entertainment and other activities. FREE with garden admission.

Rhonda is the mother of two adult daughters and a grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren – and our only grandmother on staff. She spent 25 years in corporate healthcare managing prenatal and disease management programs.
