Thursday, May 26

Fireworks, 80s and more at Richmond Flying Squirrels. The home game offers tons of fun with a tribute to BACON – yumm! Special fireworks and wear your best 80′s outfits for the event. And watch for special guest, Erik Estrada!

Friday, May 27

Beach Music – The Embers in Concert at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield. Great beach music to get Memorial Day rocking. Tickets are $8-10 and children 12 and under are free. The fun is from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Kindermusik Sing-n-Play group at the Center for Creative Arts at Shady Grove UMC (4825 Pouncey Tract Road) – 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Just $3 per family for non-enrolled students and you can pay when you come – BUT be sure to pre-register by visiting the website because space is limited. Great fun for kids who will enjoy instruments, music, activity, dancing and more.

Saturday, May 28

See Hubble in the IMAX DOME at Science Museum of Virginia – Free with museum admission. Explore comets, asteroids, and meteors.

The Doctor is In – 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Meadow Farm Museum, learn what it was like to be a doctor or patient in the late 1800s. It’s FREE and available for all ages – and while you’re there enjoy all that Meadow Farm has to offer with plenty of outdoor spaces for kids to run and play.

Patrick Henry’s speech reenactment at St. John’s Church (2401 East Broad Street). Come at 1:00 p.m. to get FREE tickets at the front door. Patriotic music begins at 1:30 p.m. and Reenactment begins at 2:00 p.m. Great educational event for kids.

Richmond Kickers kick off! 7 p.m. at City Stadium as Kickers face FC New York. Buy tickets online.

Kick-off for Summer RVA River Jam from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tredegar Park, Richmond, VA. Local DJs bring the festival to the James (weather permitting). Access to the Brown’s Island Rope Swing. Bring a towel, chair or picnic blanket. Food and beverages available (no alcohol at this event).

7th Annual Great Virginia Race at 3000 Libby Terrace, Richmond, VA. Two-day race through the wilds and cities of Virginia. Use riddles, puzzles and your imagination for this custom adventure race. Win the Gnome Pittman Cup! Visit website to register – $100 per player – adults.

1st Annual Virginia Traditions and Tunes Festival from 12 noon – 9 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Wayne Henderson, The Dixie Bee-Liners, The Celtbillies, Elton Williams, and many more! A 2-day festival of musical, artistic, and culinary customs from throughout Virginia. Fun and delicious!

Tribute to the Armed Forces at Kings Dominion May 28, 29, and 30 – FREE admission to active duty, retired, and former members of the Armed Forces with valid ID or discharge papers. Great fireworks display!

Sunday, May 29

Celebrate 529 Day with a visit to the Science Museum of Virginia for just $5.29 and explore exhibits and see an IMAX film. The first 529 guests receive a thermal snack tote. Thanks to Virginia 529 for the great price on 5/29!

Monday, May 30th – Memorial Day!

Children’s Museum of Richmond $.30 Kids Day – children’s admission to CMoR Central only 30 cents! Watch for great member benefits and specials including 30% off in the gift shop at CMoR.

Richmond’s Memorial Day Ceremony at the Virginia War Memorial honors all veterans who have served. There will be soaring glass walls and marble walls with the names of more than 11,600 Virginia veterans who have protected our country. Begins at 10:00 a.m. and is FREE to the public.

Carillon Concert annual event at Byrd Park begins at 4:00 p.m. Bring chairs and picnics to enjoy the fun. It’s FREE and the music just keeps on going.
