Urbanna Oyster Festival – It’s the 54th year for this succulent festival, so come rejoice and shuck away! The fun includes a shucking contest, Oyster Festival Parade, lots of entertainment, arts and crafts, waterfront educational activities, antique cars on display, and so much more. It’s the festival to challenge all festivals!

Lets Pink is an initiative to support Breast Cancer Awareness. The mission of Lets Pink is merge the vibrancy, and artistic minds of our youth and young adult generation, with the knowledge and life experience of our seasoned generation. It was created by me after being asked to participate in a Breast Cancer awareness Campaign by Andrew Morrison, whom is an amazing photographer out of Hampton, Virginia.

Wine Tasting and Auction. The exhibition opened at the Virginia Historical Society on February 4, 2011, and will travel to seven other Virginia museums from January 2012 through August 2015.

Brunswick Stew Festival Stew masters from across the South, including Virginia’s own Brunswick County, come with their crews and their enormous pots. As a cornerstone of our market events in 2011 it is one of the largest of its kind in the nation merging food, music and drink with fantastic fall weather. The event was featured in Pat Willard 2007 best selling book, AmericaEats! and is listed as an example of one of the best Americana-style festivals merging traditional recipes and music to mainstream Americans. The stew samples are available for sale in 4oz cups from 11:00am to 1:00pm. At 1:00pm, the stew is sold in bowls and quarts until it is gone. Don’t snooze or you will loose! Once its gone, its gone!

Shockoe Sippage Crafted Beer Celebration Sunday, November 6th from 11am to 5pm. Come and sample crafted beers from Virginia-based microbreweries with local color and flair. We will feature on a very limited basis some of the most unique beers to sample and savor. Come for an hour or come for the day. We will have plenty of holiday crafts, food and entertainment for sale or eat at one of your favorite Shockoe Bottom Restaurants. Admission and parking is free or better yet, use the services of 2BNB bus service, servicing the Bottom and Back free since 2009.

Kidney Walk 2011 – Walk, volunteer and/or donate!

Mountain Bike Skills Clinic. November 6, 2011. It’s a great time of weekend mountain biking. They meet at the shop at 1:00 p.m. and head to the James River Park to ride and be back at 4:00 p.m. Bikes and helmets are provided and boys and girls ages 8-13 years are invited. Cost is just $30.
