Celebrate Cultural Heritage with Food on Saturday

Everyone will enjoy the fun as we celebrate cultural heritage with food at the Science Museum of Virginia.

Discover a bountiful array of ethnic and cultural foods as you explore of the groundbreaking exhibition RACE: Are We So Different? Enjoy flavors from around the world prepared by Richmond area chefs by sampling Cajun, West African and Indian cuisine! Family Cultural Saturday: Celebrating Cultural Heritage through Food is at the Science Museum of Virginia on Saturday, March 10, noon-5 pm.

Sample tastes from around the world provided by Africanne on Main, Louisiana Flair, Bistro 27, India K’Raja, Farm 2 Family and Everyday Gourmet. Free samples are available while supplies last. At 12:30 and again at 1:30 pm, stop by to learn about The Wonderful World of Cassavas presented by Everyday Gourmet and at 2:30 pm, join Farm 2 Family’s Mark Lilly to hear the importance of learning about locally grown food and teaching your children about growing and cooking food.

Discover the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Passport to Education program including presentations from the State Council for High Education in Virginia, Great Aspirations Scholarship program, U.S. Department of Education Specialist Elizabeth Williamson and demonstrations by two Columbian scientists from DuPont.

If you’re an adult Museum member, make a reservation for a special, free program A World of Coffee & Tea Tasting and Open Market, 11 am-1 pm. Get steeped in knowledge about coffees and teas from far-flung corners of the globe. Lamplighter Roasting Company and Umami Gourmet Coffee and Exotic Tea Shop will enliven your taste buds. Experience the commonalities of our favorite warm beverages and their impact on our global communities. This members-only event is for adults. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
