Junior Book and Author Event Features a Real Rock Star

Richmondmom.com loves reading and books!

That makes us a huge fan of the 8th Annual Junior Book and Author event. It’s all on February 23, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Oates Theater at Collegiate School located at 103 N. Mooreland Road Richmond, Virginia 23229.

This year they are honored to welcome award-winning author, Graham Salisbury, to Richmond.  Graham’s well-loved books are inspired by his early life, growing up in Hawaii during World War II – full of adventure, fun, and history.  Some of his best-known works include:

  • Under the Blood-Red Sun
  • Lord of the Deep
  • Eyes of the Emperor
  • Blue Skin of the Sea
  • Calvin Coconut series

You are in for a treat when you hear his presentation – he’s a rock star in the Philippines, has surfed with sharks, taught college classes, skippered a glass-bottom boat, and has even swum for his life from a moray eel!

Junior Book & Author was developed with the intent of reaching out to the community’s middle-school children, a demographic that often lacks special literacy efforts by many other literacy organizations and programs.
