The Week Ahead: March 26-April 1

The week begins with fun for all ages and by the time the weekend arrives, our calendar is bursting with activities around the area. Be sure and plan ahead because of this week’s events require early registration. Don’t miss sales, shows, and lots of fun throughout the week. The Annual Monument 10K is this weekend too – good luck to all of our Richmond moms  and The Mother Runners running in this event!

Special needs kids will love the Caring Bunny on April 1 (see details below).

Monday, March 26

Member Monday only at CMoR Central from 9:30am-1:00pm.  CMoR Central is open exclusively to members on the first and fourth Monday of each month during the school year.  Enjoy light snacks and beverages during these special days.

Spirited Art – Richmond, it’s time to SHARE YOUR SPIRIT! Join us for the St Bridget’s School Fundraiser.  We will be painting the Dove-Mosaic.  This will be painted on an 11 x 14″ canvas.  See you there! St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Glen Allen will host faith leaders from area churches to speak for its Lenten Series. On Tuesdays during Lent, the series will offer lunch followed by a talk on this year’s theme, At the Foot of the Cross. All are invited for a time to partake of food for the body and the soul. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and speakers at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $7 for lunch or participants may bring their own. The series is held at St. Michael’s located at 4491 Springfield Road in Glen Allen. French Film Festival makes Carytown and everyone walking through it seem a little more sophisticated.  This is the 20th anniversary of the festival, which is cosponsored by University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University, and runs from March 29 through April 1.  The festival showcases feature-length films and shorts, and discussions with the filmmakers and actors.  To celebrate the festival’s anniversary, the films shown on March 29 are free.

Monument 10k – Whether you’re in it to win it or just here for the party, the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k’s got it all!

VA529 Kids Run – This one-mile event for kids ages 5-12 features all of the excitement of the 10k. They’ll kick off the morning by warming up with music and mingling with some local mascots until the start gun goes off. After racing their little hearts out, they’ll finish to the roar of a crowd through the same chute as the 10k-ers, where they’ll get a commemorative medal and head into a secure meeting area. Don’t forget to pick them up, because post-race food and festivities await! By the way, the Kids Run finish is just blocks from the 10k start, so there’s plenty of time to cheer on the kiddos before heading to your race.

16th Annual Bunny Run – Brook Road Campus (2924 Brook Road) – Members of the Corvette Club of Richmond will bring their new and classic cars to deliver stuffed bunnies to patients at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Caring Bunny for special needs kids.

Caring Bunny at Virginia Center – Children with special needs and their families are invited to a special photo session with the Caring Bunny in an environment set up to support the sensory, physical and other developmental needs of kids with all abilities. Caring Bunny takes place on Sunday, April 1, prior to mall opening. No lines, no crowds, no music but lots of fun!! Easter Bunny social stories, coloring activities and other goodies will be provided to make the morning magical for all who attend. We “hop” to see you! RSVP by March 29 at Ability Path.

Easter Cupcake Worship – Cupcake lovers unite! In this class we’ll show you how to start from scratch to make the kind of simple but elegant cupcakes kids (and some kids at heart) dream about. Bass Fishing Classic – Osborne Landing on the James River – Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, the inaugural Charity Bass Fishing Tournament benefiting Children’s Hospital Foundation will be held on Sunday, April 1. Registration is $100 per boat, and pre-registration participants will be eligible to win money.
