Academic Summer Camps

Abacus Math Club offers a half-day academic enrichment summer day camp for children ages 5 to 9 at Richmond Academy in the West End. Children will have daily classes in math, reading and manners. Activities include hands-on lessons, educational games, puppet shows, and recess. Master the FUNdamentals this summer.

Academy Of Excellence
Each day of the week is filled with fun and exciting activities in Art, Science, P.E., Technology, Spanish, and Creative Writing taught by AAE’s own teaching professionals!

Active Learning Computer Game Creation & Scratch Animation
Computer enrichment programs typically have two longer sessions with a snack break in between. At the beginning of camp they will be assigned a computer and will work on that machine throughout the week.  The instructor will follow our step by step curriculum as the kids learn to create their games or projects.

Bricks 4 Kidz Camps
At Bricks 4 Kidz camps, we use LEGO bricks and STEM to build amazing worlds of fun in a variety of exciting themes. From mini-sculptures, to LEGO Mosaics, to motorized LEGO machines, your child will be engaged in STEM-enriched activities and making new LEGO-loving friends. Learn, Build, and Play the Bricks 4 Kidz way! Locations: Richmond Community Church (Nuckols Rd), The Steward School, Weinstein JCC, Brown Religious School (Parham Rd), Mt. Pisgah Church (Midlothian).  Full Day and Half Day options are available.

Cat’s CAP is now part of an expanded summer program – Brilliant Summer at St. Catherine’s. Brilliant Minds offers academic enrichment at all grade levels, sparking the learning process in young students and allowing older students to brush up on core curriculum or foreign languages.

Cedar House Summer Camp
Each week of summer camp at the Cedarhouse is packed with new adventures! Our school age summer camp offers everything young hearts and minds crave – a challenging program filled with activities that inspire the imagination. Our focus is on fun, hands-on learning, so your child will participate in science, art and cooking activities as well. Our reading club will keep young minds sharp and engaged and ready to take on the next school year!

Chatham Hall Investigators Science Camp
The Summer Investigators camp is built around the development of a student’s 21st century skills, especially those related to problem solving, collaboration and curiosity.  This is accomplished through the integration of the areas of biology, chemistry and technology into a program where students assume the role of crime scene investigators in order to solve a mock crime.

Club SciKidz - RichmondmomClub SciKidz

Club SciKidz is a place where Science and Technology Connect! Imagine a day camp that is designed to offer children a choice of many different science and technology themes. Themes include experiments and projects in Video Game Creation, Robotics, Veterinary Medicine, Crime Scene Investigation, Culinary Science, Paleontology, Engineering, Space, Biology, Chemistry, Oceanography, LEGO Robotics and much more. At Club SciKidz, we believe that every child is a scientist. Our camps inspire interest in science, technology and nature by involving children in the creation of a multitude of take-away projects in each camp. The camps provide hands-on, minds-on activities for children ages 4-15. Camp Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm. Pre camp starts at 8 am and post camp ends at 5:30 pm.

CommuniKids Summer Camp is a wonderful way to introduce your child to a new language or support language acquisition. Our language-Immersion summer camp for ages 18 months to 10 years combines traditional summer fun with an educational experience and is offered in Spanish and Mandarin.

Educational Explorers

Educational Explorers’ goal is to provide enriching, imaginative and fun summer camp experiences. This summer we’re offering Global Explorers Camp for elementary students. Students will explore the world, its cultures, music, food, geography and games. Young Barristers Mock Trial Camp is for middle school students. This camp concentrates on developing communication and presentation skills, while promoting teamwork and personal responsibility. We strive to be parent friendly by offering affordable camps and extended day options. We hope your child will join us this summer!

Emory & Henry College – Summer Scholars Institute & Leadership Program
For Rising 6th-12th Graders. Emory & Henry College offers the 37th annual Summer Scholars Institute & Leadership Program. The Summer Scholars program is a one-week residential academic program for rising 6th-9th graders and offers a unique mix of learning activities designed to broaden academic interests and expose students to a college-like setting. The Leadership Program, for rising 10th-12th graders, provides academic adventure while building the student’s leadership skills. Tuition is $525 with an early application discount of $25 for applications received before March 15. Engineering For Kids of Central VA offers exciting hands-on summer camps for children ages 5-12 in all areas of engineering. Sites visited and explored: Richmond Riverfront and Historic Canals, Historic Tredegar Visitor Center, Virginia State Capitol, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and Virginia Historical Society.

Lego Robotics Camp at Benedictine College Preparatory
Imagine it, build it, and make it go! At Robotics Camp, campers will use Lego Mindstorms EV3 to learn the fundamentals of building and programming a wide variety of robots. This is a unique camp that challenges students to think creatively while exploring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) principles through design and programming. It teaches students to lead as well as work together to overcome challenging obstacles. Activities may include tug-of-war, where gears come in to play, or even an obstacle course that challenges their programming abilities.

Massanutten Military Academy Summer Camps

Mathnasium

Summer Math Camp is a great way to give your child fun activities to do during the summer while also meeting their educational needs.  Our flexible programs can be tailored to meet your child’s specific goals.  Parents enroll their children by selecting a package of either 17 or unlimited 90 minute visits. Each visit includes an hour of math and an optional 30 minutes of problem solving and math games.  June 20, 2016 – September 1, 2016

Northstar’s Summer Program
Gives students the opportunity to reinforce and retain their academic skills in our relaxed, yet structured, atmosphere. For four weeks in the summer, students can receive instruction in language arts, math, handwriting/written expression and social skills. Many students are able to participate through Extended School Year (ESY) services provided by their local school system. Northstar also provides 1:1 instruction in the Lindamood Bell Learning Process courses; Visualizing and Verbalizing, Seeing Stars and On Cloud Nine math.

Richmond Montessori Enrichment Summer Camp Programs
Richmond Montessori School offers a variety of popular specialty camps for ages 3-14 during the summer months. Primary aged children must be enrolled either at RMS or another Montessori School. RMS summer camp is open to any elementary or middle school students. Registration begins in February.

A Sabot SummerA Sabot Summer

A Sabot Summer, for children ages 3 – 11.  is designed to combine the structure and novelty of themed morning camps with afternoon child care featuring relaxed, open-ended, and varied experiences. Summer programs include Engineering with Legos, Superhero Studio, Gardening, A Maker Camp,  Forest Camp, Spanish Immersion, and more. Each week-long Sabot Camp offering provides children with engaging opportunities for exploring and developing skills, sparking new ideas and interests, and fostering imagination and enthusiasm for the world around them. Our afternoon program is tailored to the needs of families who need continuity in child care for summer months. Sylvan Learning Summer Camps 
During the summer, most parents default to enrolling their child in a general summer camp or
sports clinic, but what if there was an option for kids to explore an academic interest and build a competitive edge in the classroom? The Sylvan Learning Center of Richmond is introducing Math Edge — a new activity this summer for kids to build math skills and avoid summer learning loss. Designed for kids in grades one through five, Math Edge helps nurture students’ natural math ability and builds on core math concepts in a fun, kid-friendly learning environment alongside other kids with similar interests. Well-trained teachers manage the small sessions of 12 students or less and offer encouragement, motivation and rewards in an effort to foster independent learning and encourage students to set personal goals. Math Edge is a unique learning experience that also allows students to build camaraderie with a small group of their peers.

Tech Em Studios
Tech Em Studios is an after-school technology program that offers classes, camps and training focused on applied computer science and computer-aided design. With courses in coding, 3D printing, software design and device building, Tech Em’s instructors teach students at all levels the critical STEM-related skills required in the 21st century. If you are 11-16 years old, interested in NASA, robotics, rockets or engineering then the Virginia Space Flight Academy is the place to be this summer! Six co-ed residential camps (6 days 5 nights)  will be held the last week of June through the first week of August.
