VIRginia International Raceway hosts NASCAR k&n pro series east race, The Biscuitville 125

NASCAR Makes Its First Appearance at VIRginia International Raceway Aug. 23-24

vir_badgeALTON, VA. (Aug. 14, 2013) – VIRginia International Raceway will host its first NASCAR race, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Biscuitville 125, Aug. 23-24. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series is the top step in NASCAR’s developmental ladder before drivers make the jump to the three top-ranking national series. The Biscuitville 125 will take place on VIR’s exciting North Course, which is 2.25 miles long with 22 turns and 100 feet of elevation changes.

“We’re so excited to have NASCAR here for the first time and to host the Biscuitville 125,” said Connie Nyholm, owner of VIR. “It’s going to be a fun couple of days for some of NASCAR’s top young drivers on a challenging road course unlike any other courses they are used to.”

VIR is one of only two road courses on the K&N Pro Series East schedule, which features 21 drivers. Current points leader Dylan Kwasniewski participated in a media day for the Biscuitville 125 and expressed his excitement for racing at VIR.

“I’ve been itching to get on a road course all season,” said Kwasniewski. “It’s a blast but it scares you a little the first time you go on there because you don’t know what’s next and how your car is going to work. It’s tight and challenging. I think it’s going to be a great race.”

LodgeBalcony1-940x360As the title sponsor of the race, Biscuitville’s CEO Burney Jennings will serve as grand marshal. Jennings began his career with Biscuitville in 1988 as a baker in the company, which was founded by his father, and he took over as CEO in 1996. In addition, Kade Lambert, a sixth grade racecar driver with seven wins in the Bandolero Bandit Division, will be the Biscuitville 125’s honorary starter. Lambert, a Burlington, N.C. native, is the current Bandalero points leader for the Wake County Speedway. He also has Biscuitville connections, as his grandfather and uncle have worked for the company for more than 40 combined years.

Both known for their genuine Southern hospitality, Biscuitville and VIR form the perfect partnership to put on the Biscuitville 125. Tickets for the race are $15 for one day or $20 for both Friday and Saturday, and are available online at http://virnow.com or onsite at the VIR Box Office. Everyone is a winner!

Richmondmom.com was so proud to be part of the most recent nTelosCaresRVA non-profit giveaway! The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF), Safe Harbor, and Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) were the three charities included in our contest this time.

Lisa Ann Setchel from TACA was so excited!

Lisa Ann Setchel from TACA was so excited!

We are happy to announce that our voters chose TACA as their number one choice to receive the largest financial donation! Congratulations to Lisa Ann Setchel and everyone else who works so hard for this non-profit. They received a check for $1,500 from nTelos at the Willow Lawn location on May 9, 2013 during the presentation ceremony. Lisa Ann was momentarily speechless (which doesn’t happen often!) and so appreciative of the donation.

Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor

But nTelos didn’t stop there.

They also awarded $500 checks each to CHF and Safe Harbor – a nice surprise for these two local non-profits as well.

Richmondmom.com is committed to donating to local community non-profit organizations, and finding ways to help them increase the donations they receive through various channels. nTelos Wireless has been a tremendous supporter of non-profits throughout Virginia, and we are fortunate that they have chosen to work with Richmondmom.com on this important initiative.

We don’t know what they have up their sleeves next, but we know that nTelos Wireless ROCKS and they’ll certainly be back so stay tuned!

How cute are the CHF recipients?

Congratulations once again to TACA – and to CHF and Safe Harbor. They are all winners.

And a special thanks to nTelos Wireless for making it all happen!

Thank you nTelos!

Thank you nTelos
