Richmond mom Amy Foreman runs Monument 10K with her 9-year-old

Amy and Lucy Foreman ran the 2011 10k together!

The family that runs together is. . .well, pretty darn in shape. Go Foremans!

We think anyone who endeavors to complete the Monument Avenue 10K is pretty amazing, and quite frankly we’re just a little blown away that this nine-year-old, Lucy Foreman, did it too, without ever having run more than a mile.

Richmond mom  Amy Foreman is a seasoned runner, having run the 10K in the past and even the Richmond Marathon.  When she broached the idea of running the 10K alongside Lucy, she answered, “Sure!”

Even though Lucy didn’t train alongside her mom, she chugged along pretty darn well, finishing at a pace of 1:21. Before she set out, her little sister, age six, ran the Kids One Mile Race in 20:14, while mom and dad Amy and Bert Foreman beamed with delight.

We think the gusto of these little gals is pretty darn cool, and hope it inspires some other Richmond girls to do it!

If you decide to run the 10k, we’d love to have you join the team from Mom’s Treehouse (we had over 90 women this year from beginner to advanced),  or there are great resources like Sportsbackers for walkers and runners of all types—any way you do it, just try it–you’ll love it!
