We had a blast at Virginia Fishing Adventures!

The gang on a trek at Virginia Fishing Adventures

Last summer, my (then) eight-year-old attended his first week of fishing camp with Virginia Fishing Adventures.

He had a blast.

They went to so many lakes around Richmond, and I think the chance to ride the bus and hang out with the other kids was almost as exciting as baiting the hook and dropping the line in to see what would bite.

All week, they hopped around the city seeking the friskiest fish for their lines, and each day when I picked him up he was beaming with excitement to share what they’d caught. Lunch was provided, so it was an easy drop-off and pick-up at River City Outfitters. We did the Virginia Fishing Adventures Day Camp for kids from 6-14, and there are also overnight fishing camps and weekend fishing camps to choose from.

They have a calendar of events highlighting all the cool activities they have for Richmond kids, including mountain biking clinics.

One of the biggest differences was the team at Virginia Fishing Adventures; Tee and Key have been teaching camps for a while and they love what they do, it really shows.

If you’re looking for a Richmond summer camp that will make a lasting impression on your Richmond kid, speaking from experience this is one of my favorites.

This year, our now six-year-old will join his big brother for all the fun, and they are counting the days until school is out and they are out on the water with the “big boys” having fun the old-fashioned way.
