Short Pump Celebrates Virginia Eye Institute at Groundbreaking on May 18

May is healthy vision month and what better time for Virginia Eye Institute to break ground for a new location!

The Short Pump area welcomes a new location for the Virginia Eye Institute, making it even more convenient than ever to take better care of your sight. The Towne Center West Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on May 18, 2011 at noon.  Just before the event, the sun burst through the overcast skies and clouds to welcome the new center to the area.

Groundbreakers included Paul Bullock, M.D., Chris Carney, CEO, Virgil Hazelett, P.E., County Manager, County of Henrico; and Tedrick Johnson, HCA Capital Division, VP Operations.

An attendee at the ground breaking ceremony made this comment, “Richmond has many state-of-the-art healthcare facilities and the Virginia Eye Institute is among the best — and now they make it even more convenient to get the best eye care possible.”

CEO Welcome

Chris Carney, Virginia Eye Institute CEO, welcomed visitors and explained that the new location for Virginia Eye Institute creates a convenient and state-of-the-art facility for their patients. The 16,000 square foot eye care center is slated for completion by January, 2012.

Services

Virginia Eye Institute is widely recognized for their traditional and innovative services including general ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, ocular-plastics, optometry and a full-service optical shop. Virginia Eye Institute also offers services for cataract surgery, retinal disorders, glaucoma care, corneal disorders, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, LASIK and refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology and more.

The new center will bring many new services to the area, capitalizing on technology that makes it even easier and more cosmetically pleasing than ever to enjoy great eye health.

They even have an online optical store, making it even more convenient for busy moms and grandmoms to take care of their eye care needs. Once you purchase your frames, you can bring them to one of the optical shop locations for final fittings and adjustments. The virtual try-on technology allows you to see how frames look before you buy and they offer eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and Rx sunglasses.

Certified

The Virginia Eye Institute center is certified and approved by state and federal health care entities, and holds the distinguished certification of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), based on rigid standards for patient safety, emergency care, anesthesia, instrumentation, and quality control. They were also voted as the 2010 Henrico Business of the Year.
