“Your tiny baby has Cerebral Palsy.”

Imagine hearing those words and knowing that your child faces challenges far beyond anything you could ever imagine. What would you do? How would you handle it? Where would you turn? How would you feel?

Asher Collins‘ mother and father know exactly how it feels — and this very special family from Richmond, Virginia has learned to cope with their child’s disappointments and challenges, along with his enthusiasm, fun and joy for living. They have learned to help Asher tackle the challenges head-on, and enjoy life to the fullest extent possible because Asher deserves no less.

That makes the Richmond Mom Prom important to Asher’s family and many other families dealing with Cerebral Palsy. This is a nationwide event for charity when women wear old prom gowns, bridesmaids dresses, or wedding gowns for an evening out. It’s fun, hilarious, and a worthy cause.

This year’s Richmond Mom Prom event will benefit children with Cerebral Palsy and all donations will go to the foundation Reaching for the Stars which is made out in Asher Collins’ name.

When and Where

The event will be held at the BlackFinn Restaurant and Saloon located in downtown Richmond at 1001 Haxall Point, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23219. It’s on June 11, 2011 (Saturday) from 7:00 p.m. t0 11:00 p.m.

This is a chance to dance the night away and party while supporting an important cause. Prizes for tackiest dress will be awarded along with the crowning of the “prom queen”.

Tickets are suggested at $10, but more or less is fine. Give what you can (a donation is required to attend). There will also be raffle tickets and a cash bar.

Break out your dancing shoes and your best or “worst” prom dress and get your girlfriends together for a fun night. Asher and many others affected by Cerebral Palsy will all benefit from your generosity and support of this important cause.

Richmondmoms can and do make a difference!
