Full Circle Helps Grieving Children Through the Holidays

The holiday season is right around the corner!

Thank you to so many who have contributed to Full Circle Grief Center where programs and services help grieving children and families cope with loss.

Last year Full Circle Grief Center launched Circle of Giving, a volunteer effort with the goal of providing additional support to grieving families at this time of year.  For families with recent losses, the holidays often bring new emotional challenges.  Many in the Richmond area are also facing a new financial strain when the sole provider for a family is lost or a relative steps in to care for children for the first time.

In a time of great joy it is hard to think about so many children in our area who will be spending their first holiday season after losing a mom, dad, sister, brother, or other significant person in their lives. Last year, Full Circle sponsored 16 families helping to make the holidays brighter for 21 caretakers and 32 children!  Thanks to contributions, this was possible. They are continuing this tradition this year as they sponsor 17 families during the holidays.

"A Broken Heart": Created by one of Full Circle's grieving children.

Full Circle provides grief groups in our inner city schools and they are currently fundraising for the spring semester groups.  They were recently awarded a $15,000 grant to go towards the counselor stipends for 20 groups!  What they need now is donations to cover all the wonderful art materials used to help these children express and process their grief.  $50 pays for a child’s art supplies for an entire 12 week grief support group.

The holidays are a good time to consider giving to Full Circle Grief Center where your dollars help children and families work through their grief and find a way to move forward. You can also consider volunteering with Full Circle throughout the year to help with hands-on activities for kids.

Please contact Delaney at [email protected] with any questions about these programs. Visit the Full Circle website for more information on their programs and services.
