November kicks off with lots of family-friendly activities and holiday events. There are so many holiday events, we’ve created a special posting just for those – click here to keep up with holiday events throughout the holiday season.
There is still time to help the troops by selling your Halloween candy to Drs. Atkins, Maestrello, Miller & Associates. They’re purchasing candy through November 7 to send to the troops. They’re also giving away prizes for kids so stop by with your left-over, unopened candy.
Ongoing Events
Free movie night at Tom Leonards every Friday in October. Every Friday night in October starting around 7pm, please join Tom Leonards Farmers Market located at 4150 Brookriver Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23060 under the big tent for kids holiday movie night. Will include free movie, popcorn, hot chocolate, apple cider, face painting and hay rides. Bring your chair or sit on hay bales.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program: November 9 – December 8 (Monday-Saturday), from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., in Fountain Court near Burlington. Virginia Center Commons is partnering with The Salvation Army on their annual holiday Angel Tree program, which provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need. Polar Express (film in IMAX®DOME) Saturday, November 17-Wednesday, January 23 – Based on the modern holiday classic written by children’s author Chris Van Allsburg, Polar Express follows the journey of a young boy named Billy who doubts the existence of Santa Claus. With a family who believes everything from the elves to flying reindeer are myths, Billy’s whole viewpoint changes when a mysterious train visits him on Christmas Eve promising to take him and other children to the North Pole. The train’s conductor, along with other passengers, help turn Billy’s crisis into a journey of self-discovery in this heart-warming holiday film. $9 general admission, $5 for members.

Santa Arrives at Chesterfield Towne Center. Kick-off the holiday season with a grand ceremony to light the tree with the children. Live jazz music provided by the Monacan High School Jazz Band and a parade with Santa through the mall to his set where he will be through December 24th for pictures and visits with the children.

A Veterans Day Commemoration and Concert will take place at the Carillon in Byrd Park. The first floor of the Carillon will be open for touring at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11.
The Chesterfield County Annual Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony will take place at the Chesterfield County Historic 1917 Courthouse Green on Iron Bridge Road. In the event of inclement weather, head to the Chesterfield County Public Meeting Room – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11.
