Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked The World

Take a journey through a motley crew of legendary guitars in our latest exhibition as you explore the history of the world’s most recognized musical instrument, examine more than 60 guitars, historical artifacts and play the world’s largest guitar! Included with exhibit admission.
Forces of Nature
Opening Tuesday, January 1
Discover how natural disasters occur and what scientists and engineers are doing to predict and prepare for such events as well as to minimize future damage. $9 general admission, $5 for members.
Hubble

LiveSky: The Big Bang: the Whole Universe Was In A Hot Dense State…

Let’s start the year off with a bang. How about the Big Bang?! Join us for a night of exploring the biggest explosion of all time! After the show, weather permitting, join members of the Richmond Astronomical Society as they point telescopes up into the vastness of space! $5, free for Museum members.
Lunch Break Science
Wednesdays, noon-1 pm
Pack a lunch and join Museum scientists and others who share easy to understand information on a wide range of science topics. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.Free.

- January 16 – Make a New Year’s Resolution to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle presented by Central Virginia Waste Management Authority Public Information Coordinator Nancy Drumheller.
- January 23 – Closer Look at Common Eye Conditionspresented by Commonwealth Eye Care Associates Physician Relations Assistant Kelly Thompson.
- January 30 – Teaching Evolution Through Art presented by professional animator Tyler Rhodes.
