First-ever event’s theme is “Create”
Richmond, Virginia – January 8, 2013 – TEDxRVA, an independently organized TEDx event, will take place on March 22, 2013. With the theme “Create,” TEDxRVA will feature provocative presenters, videos and interactive opportunities that will invigorate small group discussions and inspire dynamic creative connections among the participants. This innovative, day-long event will take place in and around the 1894 coal plant that powered the nation’s first streetcar line and, more recently, provided its exterior walls as canvas for the 2012 RVA Street Art Festival. The event will also be simulcast at other locations throughout the city.
Andy Stefanovich, co-founder of Prophet’s Play Studio and curator of TEDxRVA, said: “We are excited to bring TEDx to the Richmond region. TEDx Andy Stefanovich2events happen all over the world, all the time, but Richmond’s event will set a new standard for TEDx.” Along with the traditional talks and presentations offered during a TEDx event, TEDxRVA will engage audience members, extending the concept of “Create” beyond theme to action. Stefanovich continued, “TEDx will be about the feelings, the emotions and the magical interactions of the day. As a community we will co-author the experience in real time. As talks, interactions and connections occur, we will add another chapter to RVA’s creative movement.”
