FILM AND DISCUSSION: Sunday, January 20, 2013. 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. RSVP NOW
HandsOn and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities will host a free film screening and discussion of Remember the Titans at the Science Museum of Virginia’s Eureka Theater.
This film is family-friendly and has a rating PG. Following the film they will engage attendees in a brief discussion on themes presented in the movie and how participants can participate in meaningful service for Martin Luther King Day.
The film is inspired by real events set in 1971 in Alexandria, Virginia, at the recently desegregated T. C. Williams High School. The film portrays the journey of a newly appointed African-American coach (Denzel Washington) and his high school team on their first season as a racially integrated unit. The characters encounter racial tension and develop relationships within their forced desegregation at school and within the community.
You can RSVP that you plan to attend by visiting the Facebook page.
