No Two Alike: Snow Crystal Microphotography. Explore the work of physicist Kenneth G. Libbrecht which captures intricate details of snow crystals. Peruse snow facts find out the answer to the question “Is it true that no two snowflakes alike?” Included with exhibit admission.

Element 50 — Tin: Now-Sunday, March 10 – Artist Paul Teeples creates sculptures by repurposing castoff architectural and domestic items. Explore this display of works created from tin items that were discarded or found in thrift shops. Located in Periodic Table café.

Born to be Wild at IMAX Dome. Born to be Wild is an inspiring story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them — saving endangered species one life at a time.$9 general admission, $5 for members. They Call it Stormy Weather: How Artists See the Weather and the Seasons. Explore artists’ depictions of weather from thunderstorms on powerful, wild seas to sunny skies above spring fields. The photographic reproductions are on loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Included with exhibit admission.

March is Reading Month at CMoR. Different stories throughout the month at all locations.

Chesterfield Nights at CMoR March 1-28, 2013. Join us weeknights in March at CMoR Chesterfield for extended hours! Children enrolled in Chesterfield County Elementary Schools receive free admission beginning at 5:00pm with voucher, good for any weeknight during the month of March. Adults are only $4 from 5:00pm-7:00pm CMoR Members are ALWAYS FREE!

Breast in Show - Visit the website or call 804.282.2620 for tickets and specific show dates/times. Breast In Show is a musical about breast cancer with six performances at the Virginia Repertory Theatre,  March 7 – March  19, 2013.  The cast is awesome, the venue is exciting and the producer, director, musical director and choreographer are acclaimed professionals that have all made a special personal commitment to bring this groundbreaking show to life.

Cotton Patch Gospel. 8pm at Hanover Tavern. A joyous, musical adaptation of the Gospels of Matthew and John!A gem of musical theater, this reverent adaption of “The Greatest Story Ever Told” transplants the story of Jesus into the mid-20th-century American South and considers what might have happened had Jesus been born in Georgia — with Gainesville standing in for Bethlehem, Valdosta for Nazareth and Atlanta as the fateful Jerusalem.

Richmond Waldorf School Observation Day.  8:30am-10am.  1000   Westover Hills Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23225.  Come see Waldorf education in action while visiting various classrooms promptly at 8:30 AM. Parents will also have the opportunity to watch an informational DVD and time for conversations and questions. This event is for parents to attend only.

LiveSky: Pi in the Sky at the Science Museum at 6pm. Continue celebrating the number Pi as you discover the unexpected ways it shows up in the night sky. After the show, weather permitting, join members of the Richmond Astronomical Society as they point telescopes up into the vastness of space! $5, free for Museum members.

Target $1 Night at CMoR from 5pm-7:30pm.  Children’s Museum – Central.  Bring the whole family to enjoy what The Children’s Museum has to offer from 5:00-7:30pm on the third Friday of every month for just $1 per person!

Live Science Demonstrations at Science Museum. 9:30 am. Daily presentations bring science to life! Join us as we freeze a penny with liquid nitrogen, dissect a cow eye and coach our rat basketball teams to victory! Call ahead for a schedule and for more information.

Arena Racing at the Richmond Coliseum 7:30 pm. Real ½ scale race cars flying around a $500,000 indoor race track that barely fits inside a hockey rink. This 2 ½ hour family-friendly show features talented drivers speeding side-by-side, jockeying and bumping, and sometimes even flipping all for the entertainment of our enthusiastic fans.

Russian National Ballet of Sleeping Beauty. Modlin Center for the Arts at Jepson Theatre.  Under the artistic direction of the legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko, the Russian National Ballet will perform a full-scale production of the timeless classic The Sleeping Beauty.

logo_WestchesterShamrock5k2nd Annual Westchester Shamrock 5K and 1K Fun Run will be held on March 16, 2013! Start time: 9:00 a.m. on Main Street. Enjoy free admission to the festivities, including music, sports demonstrations, food, and family fun. Stop by the Bon Secours Health & Fitness Zone for helpful tips and information, giveaways, and samples.

Richmond Raiders at the Richmond Coliseum at 7pm.

Fire! Rifle Musket Program at Historic Tredegar from 12noon – 1pm. Join a costumed historical interpreter for a discussion and demonstration of the primary infantry weapon of the American Civil War. Learn how a Civil War soldier trained and fought with the rifle musket. Program includes a blank, black powder firing.

Westchester Shamrock 5k and 1k Kid’s Fun Run.

Breakfast with the Bunny Regency Mall Food Court at 9am. Hop on over and enjoy a breakfast with the Bunny!  First 50 kids receive a free breakfast* Ages 10 and under, Enjoy a fun coloring activity, Meet & greet the Bunny, Enjoy fun with Radio Disney 10am-Noon, near Center Court.

St. Patrick’ Day Street party 11:30 am. The countdown to St. Patrick’s Day has begun! On Saturday, March 16, Siné Irish Pub will host its 14th Annual Street Party! Live music by antero, The Chase Fralin Band, Broken Monday and the Acousta-Lites. $5 cover and proper ID required. Rain or shine!

11th Annual Dog Jog & 5k Run at Richmond SPCA’s Robbins-Starr Humane Center at 9am-1pm.  Join us on Saturday, March 16 for our 11th Annual Dog Jog and 5K Run! There are many ways to participate that will benefit homeless pets at the Richmond SPCA.The Dog Jog and 5K Run is the second largest fundraising event of the Richmond SPCA. This event supports not only the programs and services provided by the Richmond SPCA, but also the thousands of pets who will enter our care each year. Your support helps save their lives while they wait for a loving, permanent home.

Virginia Executive Mansion’s 200th Birthday Party at 4pm. Join Virginia’s Executive Mansion for the party of the year its 200th birthday celebration! Family friendly and free to the public, this festive occasion will include live music, delicious birthday cake, games, a moon bounce, inflatable slide, and much more!

All Fired Up – Wear Green, Save Gold all day on Sunday, March 17th! Get 10% off your walk in project.

Dance films with Richmond Ballet at 2pm at Movieland, 1331 North Boulevard at Leigh Street. Richmond Ballet will host an afternoon of 4 dance-themed films, selected by our company dancers and then voted on by our facebook fans.  Tickets are $15, including a small popcorn and soda.  Criterion will donate a portion of every ticket sold to Richmond Ballet.

Paws in the Park from 3-5pm at Dorey’s Dog Park.  Activities include Agility Trainer Demo, pet education, St. Patrick’s Day parade, and a bonnet contest for the dogs. Children will enjoy face painting, making homemade toys for children, and visiting with Henrico Division of Fire.  For all ages.
