Busch Gardens® Celebrates Lochness Monster in Food Art

WILLIAMSBURG (August 16, 2013) –How does a theme park known for its culinary creations pay tribute to its oldest and most beloved roller coaster on National Roller Coaster Day? For Busch Gardens® the solution was to enlist the assistance of celebrity chef James Parker and his food artists to commemorate Loch Ness Monster® in food art.

Chef Parker and his team constructed a massive Loch Ness Monster food and vegetable art display during the Busch Gardens Food and Wine Festival.

The food art interpretation of Nessie featured 13 different varieties of fruit and vegetables, which included: 20 leeks,  20 radishes, 12 watermelons,12 carrots, eight zucchinis, seven beets, six squash, six pineapples, three malanga roots, three eggplants, two butternut squash, two daikon radishes and one pumpkin.

The Loch Ness Monster fruit and vegetable art display took seven hours to create, measured seven feet in length and reached four feet high. To see the food artists create the Loch Ness Monster masterpiece, see the video below.

The Loch Ness Monster celebrated its 35th anniversary this summer.  A revolutionary coaster since its debut during the summer of 1978, Nessie was the world’s first and is still the only double-locking loop steel coaster.
