Richmond, Va. (Aug. 27, 2013) — HCA Virginia has appointed William Wagnon, III as chief executive officer of Henrico, Parham and Retreat Doctors’ Hospitals, effective September 1, 2013.
With a background in hospital administration and extensive experience with HCA, Wagnon comes to HCA Virginia from the 340-bed Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, where he had been CEO since 2008. Wagnon replaces Pat Farrell, who spent 23 total years with HCA, 17 of those years were as CEO of Henrico Doctors’ Hospitals.

From 2002 to 2008, Wagnon was COO of 368-bed Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., and from 2000 to 2002 he served in the same capacity at 401-bed Community Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla. His other stops included Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Fla. and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Wagnon earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oregon in Eugene, and his master’s degree in health administration from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
