If you can only participate in one event to help others this year, then HandsOn Day 2013 might be the perfect event for you! It’s Saturday, October 29, 2013 and it’s a day of helping others with hands-on projects and making a difference.
What is HandsOn Day?
It’s a day when people come together to work for the good of others. Volunteers complete necessary work with more than 50 different projects available. They include projects with nonprofit, government, and community organizations – and even schools! There are projects in many different areas including projects working with animal rescue organizations, faith based projects, children’s programs, hospice, eldercare needs, healthcare, parks & recreation, and much more. Click here for a complete list.
Who Volunteers?
Everyone!
Volunteers receive supplies and no special skills are required – just a big heart! Volunteers can create teams with friends and family, or work with other people they’ve never met. There are plenty of places to volunteer. Registration closes 24 hours before the day. You can download more details here.
There are some projects that require minimum ages so check those out. Some projects require ‘minimum age with adult’ meaning that an adult can register and volunteer with a youth. It’s a great way to engage kids in giving back to the community and learning more about volunteering.
