Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and of course, the count down to Christmas begins!
 We had SO many great things happening in and around Richmond this season that we decided to split the lists up by November and December. Keep your eyes peeled for a great December events list coming soon!! 

But first things first!

Here’s a ton of great ways to have holiday packed November. No matter what you’re celebrating – have fun!

OnGoing Events

Polar Express on IMAX Nov 2nd, 2013 – Jan 1st, 2014 – A doubting boy boards a magical train that’s headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus’s home. What unfolds is an adventure where he learns that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

November 1st – 3rd

The Craftsman Classic Arts & Crafts Festival This three day event features over 450 different artists and craftsmen from all over the US and Canada.

 

November 3rd

Virginia Thanksgiving Festival is back!! (For the 394’th time.) Find out about the REAL First Thanksgiving and party like it’s 1619!

November 7-9, 2013

Museum Stores of Richmond Holiday Shoppers Fair at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen. Richmond-area museum gift shops sell their wares, including many specialty items. Proceeds benefit the museums. 9am-5pm both days. Member night: Thursday, November 7, 2013.

November 8th

Annual Museum Stores of Richmond Holiday Shopper’s Fair Opens! – November 8 & 9th – You can shop until you drop at some of the best museum stores in Richmond all in one place!

Yankee Candle Holiday Open House– Be the first in line to get yummy smelling holiday candles! Giveaways every hour until 4 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  Kids can stay busy with activity sheets while Mom and Day shop.

Holly Jolly Christmas on Lakside Avenue. Lakeside is known as a unique shopping district with shops featuring home decor, clothing, antiques and vintage treasures, toys, gourmet food and beverages and much more!

November 8-10, 2013

4th Annual Virginia Christmas Market at Meadow Event Park. Virginia Christmas Market features an exceptional blend of quality artisans, crafters, boutiques and specialty food shops from all across the Nation.

November 9th

Santa at Chesterfield Towne Center  November 9th – December 24th.  Get your picture with Santa with enough time to actually make and send Christmas cards with them!

Annual Museum Stores of Richmond Holiday Shopper’s Fair Opens! – November 8 & 9th – You can shop until you drop at some of the best museum stores in Richmond all in one place!

November 15th

Santa’s Arrival and Grand Illumination at Short Pump Santa and his special friends work their magic to light the 50 foot Christmas Tree that stands at Short Pump Town Center Mall at 6pm.

November 17th

The Goochland Rotary Club Presents the 7th Annual Benefit Concert Get into the holiday spirit with the help of the Richmond Symphony playing a combination of seasonal favorites. Starts at 4pm.

November 21st

Champagne ‘n Shopping Sip your complimentary glass of champagne (or sparkling cider) as you shop for holiday gifts at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

November 22nd

The Victorian Holidays Begin  at Maymont. Beginning November 22, 2013-January 5, 2014, 12-5pm.  Tour the mansion to see the beautiful trimmings on the Christmas tree, the opulent dining room set for a feast, evergreen decorations and lavish gifts welcome the season in grand Victorian style.

Pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Art Fair Join Art Works for children’s Activities, refreshments, door prizes, music and of course, great art! Admission is free and all art & gifts are $50 or less.

Christmas Town at Busch Gardens. Fun, games, food ,snow, and more!

November 23rd

RVA on Ice– Brush off your ice skates because RVA on Ice is back for another season. Come ice skate in the great outdoors on a rink nestled in the heart of downtown amidst the city skyline and entertainment area of Richmond located at the corner of Broad and 6th Streets.

Tree Lighting Celebration at Willow Lawn Celebrate the season with live music, Santa photos, children’s activities, giveaways, merchant specials and more! Starts at 6pm

The Legendary Santa Gala Put on your cocktail dress and celebrate the holidays with the Legendary Santa at Saks Fifth Avenue in Stony Point Fashion Park.  This fundraiser is sure to be a great time! Adults are $50 and children under 12 are free. Get tickets in advance.

Friendship, Trade & Feast Visitors will have a chance to be immersed in the cooking, games, songs, and dances that were common to the homes in 1611-1622 Virginia.

Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins Run. Come out and join the most decadently delicious 5k race in Richmond! Navigate our 5k course while munching down on Dunkin’ Donut Munchkins along the course! Awesome post-race Dunkin’ Donuts Breakfast! Clover Hill School, Midlothian, VA.

November 24th

Holiday Open House at the Wilton House Museum– This is the only time the Wilton House is Free to the public so take advantage and enjoy some warm cider and family friendly games in this beautiful hope (built in the 17oo!).

November 28th

Foods & Feasts of Colonial Virginia Explore foodways of 17th- and 18th-century Virginia during this three-day event November 28-30 at Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center.

November 29th

Romp n’ Roll Special Drop n’ Shop event at the Midlothian and West End locations from 9am to noon. Cost is $25 and includes Gym, Art, and Music time plus a snack for children ages 2-6; potty training not required.  They must pre-register, and member discounts do apply. Shop, dine, or just rest while the kids are playing.

A Lug Nuts Christmas at Hanover Tavern opens November 29th and runs through January 5th.

36th Annual Model Railroad Show Opens Enjoy the most magical train layouts in Virginia. Tour the Museum’s RF&P Car ONE, check out the 1918 Bocock Streetcar and watch blacksmith demonstrations with Gerald Boggs. 9:30am to 5:00pm, included with exhibit admission.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas -Virginia Rep The Children’s Theater at Willow Lawn is transformed into a winter wonderland in this charming 55 minute musical complete with Santa, reindeer on the roof, moonlight on the snow, and sugarplums dancing in the dreams of hopeful children. Performance runs through December 29th.

Bizarre Market Holiday -Richmond’s Bizarre Market: snuggly, sparkly, functional, repurposed, delicious and supremely crafty!  Chop Suey Books: 2913 W. Cary St.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze Landmark Theatre November 29 -30 Experience gingerbread men flipping mid air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets dancing and reindeer soaring high above a landscape of holiday wonderment. An original music score and some seasonal favorites accompany hundreds of spectacular costumes and holiday dreams in a setting of gigantic gifts, colossal candy canes and 30-foot towering soldiers.

November 30th

Black Saturday in Carytown  support your local retailer by shopping small on Saturday.  Shoppers will also enjoy free carriage rides on Cary Street from 12-5pm.

A Federal Christmas The John Marshall House is all decked out for the holidays! There will be an open house, themed tours and a brand new doll house.
