Oops. The Richmond Marathon is this weekend! So maybe it’s too late to train?
For those of us a little less ambitious here are 5 races you can still sign up for (you’ll run the marathon next year, right?).
- Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkin Run November 23. I know I run faster if I know there’s coffee and donuts at the finish line. The Dunkin’ Donuts 5k and 1 mile relay benefits the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation while having a great run at the Clover Hill High School campus. Eating donuts while running is optional. Adult $30/ youth $25.
- The Turkey Trot 10k- November 28. This is a challenging 10k race around the University of Richmond Campus with 1,600 participants. Canned food will be collected to benefit the Virginia Food Bank. Free kids run but participants must register. $25 for RRRC members / $35 for non-members.
- The Nutzy Funn Run December 7. This family-friendly 5k is a partnership with The Rotary Club of West Richmond, the Dominion Christmas Parade and, of course, our very own Flying Squirrels. There are 4 flights including a stroller division. $35 adults /$15 youth.
- Jingle Bell Run/Walk December 7. Wear your jingle bells to this holiday theme 5k at Stony point Fashion Park. This themed run is lots of fun so get your Santa suit on and get moving! $30 adult /$15 for youth goes to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
- Toys for Tots December 15. This annual RRRC toy drive is all about helping children in need. This is a nice flat 5k race at The Shoppes at Innsbrook. Registration for RRRC Members is $10 or one new toy valued at $10 or more for the 5K. Non-RRRC members entry fee is $15 or one new toy valued at $15 or more. The kids run is free but participants are encouraged to make a toy or monetary donation.
