Shop in Carytown and You Might Receive a Random Act of Kindness

Carytown is taking “Holiday Spirit” to a whole new level this year.

shop smallAs we all know, Black Friday is a huge shopping day for big box stores, and small businesses usually get left in the dust.   In an effort to bring more attention to small business who simply cannot  compete with the big box doorbuster sales, Carytown is going all out for Small Business Saturday.

On Saturday, November 30th, Santa will be at W. Hirsch Oriental  Rug (across from Can Can) from 12:00-2:30 pm and Carytown will be offering free horse drawn carriage rides from 12-5pm.  Local stores will be running special sales and discounts for those shopping for unique and meaningful gifts.

Now, we love Santa, carriage rides, small businesses and great deals, but here’s something we thought was really cool:  throughout the day, Elves will be giving out $3,000 worth of freebies to random shoppers throughout Carytown.  You could get a gift, a gift certificate, or even cash, just for supporting the local businesses in Carytown!

There are almost 300 shops, restaurants and businesses in Carytown

and most are locally owned.   Studies have shown that shopping locally has a stronger impact on the local economy than shopping in big box stores. So get out and find some beautiful gifts that mean so much more to the community, local shop owner and to the receiver…and who knows, shopping locally may may be even more rewarding than you think!
