Richmond has so many fun and exciting holiday events, and many people have long established what defines their holidays in RVA. If the Christmas production Glorious Christmas Nights at West End Assembly of God is not on your list, make it a priority now.
This year’s show, entitled “A Storybook Christmas,” follows the journey of a little girl getting ready for a Christmas pageant. She and her family become snowed in and the pageant she was so looking forward to gets cancelled. She goes to sleep and has a dream that transports her to a land of Nursery Rhymes complete with Mother Goose, the three little pigs, and other nursery rhyme favorites!
You may even be surprised with a visit from Santa and Rudolph!
Through her dream she sees spectacular singing and dancing and is transported from fantasy land all the way to Bethlehem as she learns the true reason we celebrate the Christmas season. This Broadway style musical will dazzle and amaze your entire family and has a variety of music that is sure to please everyone in your group.

Glorious Christmas Nights has been in production for 30 years and is an all volunteer cast. Shows are new each year and the creative process begins as early as March. Auditions are held in September and rehearsals run from October to December, all to bring you an amazing show that will lift your spirits and have you singing along. Visit the Facebook page to see behind the scenes rehearsal photos and more information!
I am honored to be a part of the show this year and the talent of the people you will see on stage is truly worth coming out for. Everyone in the cast has poured hours of time and energy into making this magical musical come alive.
The show runs for about 2 hours and is engaging enough for even little children to sit through. My 4 year old son came to our dress rehearsal and was able to enjoy the entire performance.
“I thought your show was great, Mommy. My favorite part was the singing and the dancing. And you looked boo-tiful in your costume.” Well, now I’m just blushing. But that’s a pretty fantastic review.
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this wonderful Richmond tradition. “A Storybook Christmas” opens tonight, Wednesday, December 4th, and runs through Sunday, December 15th. Tickets are $18.
You can purchase tickets here. But hurry, there are limited quantities left!
