COLLECT OVER 2000 FOOD ITEMS
TO HELP SERVE A HOLIDAY FEAST TO RICHMOND FAMILIES

Midlothian, December 11th, 2013 – Demonstrating their commitment to giving to others, the Primrose School of Swift Creek & the Primrose School of Midlothian at Waterford recently helped feed hungry families throughout the Richmond area. On Wednesday December 11th the preschoolers donated over 2000 food items to FeedMore and the Central Virginia Food Bank.

“Children from Primrose Schools across the nation participated in food drives over the past month, but they did much more than simply bring in items from their parents’ pantries,” says Leighanne Chilmaid, Primrose School of Swift Creek & Midlothian at Waterford Owner. “The students counted their classroom donations each morning and discussed what ‘Generosity’ meant, our character development trait during the month of December. The students gave examples of generosity to understand the concept, along with practicing the trait throughout the month with their classmates.  Each classroom counted their daily donations and kept a weekly log.  This allowed the students to see each week how close they were (collectively as a school) to their donation goal of 750 items. The helping hands caring and giving event is an integral part of Primrose balanced learning and allows children to learn while building character and making a difference for others.”
