We are so excited to hear this great news. Chihuly’s exhibit in 2013 was one of the most spectacular events you will ever see. His works of art boggle the mind.

If you’ve been to VMFA in the past year, you’ve seen Chihuly’s Red Reeds in the Sculpture Garden. What you may not know is that VMFA didn’t own this popular work until recently.

On December 12,2014, the Board of Trustees voted to purchase Red Reeds, making it the first site-specific Chihuly work acquired by an art museum. Stop by to see this dramatic work, comprised of more than 100 red glass spears—some as tall as 10 feet—from inside or outside of the museum.

It’s a beautiful site and one that you will not forget. We’re excited that the VMFA made this purchase for our enjoyment.
