Historic Henricus Family Fun Day: February 15

CHESTER, Va.– America’s second successful English settlement invites families to attend the Henricus Family Fun Day on February 15, 2014.  This event will focus on 17th-century life featuring Colonial games, art projects and role-play activities at Henricus Historical Park.

Stations will be set up across the site and feature Colonial and Virginia Indian history, environment and mapping skills with related crafts and activities. Participants will learn basic sewing skills and make fossils, treasure maps, paper and pottery.

Henricus Historical Park is a vibrant living-history museum which appeals to people of all ages,” said Charles L. Grant, executive director. “We encourage families to join us for this event and come back throughout the year to experience all we have to offer.”

Admission for this event which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is $11 for adults and $9 for children 3-12. Patron adult admission is free and Patron child admission is $2.50. Registration is required by February 14 by calling the education department at (804) 318-8797. Adults must accompany all children. In case of inclement weather, the event will move indoors at Henricus.

Henricus Historical Park is located on 32 acres along the scenic and historic James River and is surrounded by the 810-acre Dutch Gap Conservation Area. Only 20 minutes from Richmond, the living history museum is located at 251 Henricus Park Road, Chester, Virginia 23836.
