Visual Arts

all fired upAll Fired Up Registration is OPEN. Get All Fired Up about Art this summer!  All Fired Up is offering camp sessions  for ages 6-14 at all three locations: Carytown, Midlothian, and Short Pump.  Each week has a unique theme where campers explore a variety of media including clay, ceramics, glass fusing, drawing, wheel-throwing, tie-dye, painting, and more!   Register in store or online at  All Fired Up. Art Works Summer Camps. Your child will enjoy 5 days of art  classes designed to provide both 2 and 3 dimensional experiences.

Center for Creative Arts. Choose from Dance Camps, Art Camps, Robotics Camps, Chess Camps, and Musical Theatre Camps.  Most camps are half-day.

Creative Arts Day Camp at VCU For children rising into grades K- 9.  Classes are divided by age, and three to four classes are offered each session. The camp gives participants experience in various art media such as: digital art, sculpture, painting, clay, fibers, printmaking and drawing.

Spirited Art. Registration is OPEN.  Sessions available in June, July and August. Spirited Art Registration is OPEN.

Velocity Kids Arts Camp Children will experience great MUSIC and MOVEMENT as a form of PRAISE, create ART, eat great SNACKS and gain tools for resolving conflict and building a safe place in God referred to in Psalm 62:1-2. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has fun summer camps this summer, with over a hundred week-long studio art camps and classes! Children’s annual Summer Art Adventures & teens’ Summer in the Studio programs run for eight weeks, beginning July 8.

Visual Arts Center of Richmond Summer ArtVenture Camp: Week-long studio art classes in a positive, nurturing learning environment. Each class provides focused attention on a specific media, skill or subject, and each week brings a selection of unique choices.

 

Performing Arts

Comedy Sportz Richmond VAComedySportz® Improv Camp for Kids.  ComedySportz is pleased to offer 2014 Youth Summer Camps program – an intensive version of popular classes. Years of teaching and performing make each camp an experience our students never forget. Improv training fosters creativity, teamwork, confidence and poise both on and off the stage. Summer Camps are a great way to learn about improv and the stage in a fun and supportive environment.

HATTheatre. Our workshops are designed so your child has fun while learning really cool stuff at a professional theatre, but with no auditions required. All are performance based with a show for friends & family at the end of the week.

The Hamlet Project- Bard Unbound and Fireborn Films are proud to offer a unique and thrilling summer camp – part Shakespeare, part Hollywood, and all fun!  We are looking for student actors, age 13-19, who are interested in learning the art of film making as well as in acting in a Shakespeare play. Jessica Morgan School of Dance: Summer Dance Camps, Intensive and More! Camp, Ages 3 – 11: Students enrolled in our 4 day dance camps will explore ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater. The final day of each camp week concludes with an in studio performance at 12:00 pm for parents to enjoy. Passion Academy Frozen Summer Camp
Come enjoy a week to indulge and explore the music and characters of Disney’s “Frozen” in our Drama Camp.  They will learn diction and vocal projection, stage direction and presence, blocking, improvisational skills, participate in character studies of different “Frozen” characters/animals, and participate in sensory exercises to enhance their acting skills. This camp will conclude with an ensemble musical performance applying the skills the children have learned. Two sessions in July.

square HST and RSRichmond Shakespeare and Henley Street Theatre Camps Explore the world of Shakespeare through scenes, monologues, stage combat, and performances. Spring and summer workshops and camps include: Introduction to Shakespeare; Festival Young Company; and Shakespeare Summer Camp. Give your child the opportunity to find the joy of studying and performing in a Shakespeare play in a low-pressure atmosphere. At the same time as they grapple with Shakespeare’s words and plots, they will gain an appreciation of the greatest dramatist in the English language. Taught by the experts at Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare.

 

square SPARCSPARC summer camps. The School of Performing Arts in the Richmond community – SPARC – has provided incredible performing arts experience to students in the Richmond area for over 30 years. SPARC has full-day and half-day camps for students ages 4 to 18. Our summer campsSPARC are filled with singing, acting, dancing, friends and fun! With camps from June to August, every student can find a camp to make them shine. Cheryl Lage of RichmondMom.com wrote in her article, ‘Fanning the SPARC’: “As a part-time (9-3:30 daily) working-in-an-office mama, the timing seemed ideal . . .confidence levels rose. Swift Creek Mill Theatre Camp. Exploratory and Performance Camps. Theatre enrichment classes are designed to give students a better knowledge and appreciation of all aspects of theatre such as make-up, dialects, special effects, lighting, auditioning, costuming and more! Ages 8-15.

Virginia Rep: Theatre IV Stage Explorers Camp. Join us this summer for Stage Explorers Camp at the Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. In just two weeks your child will learn everything it takes to put on a show in a professional theatre. From singing, acting and dancing, to lights, sound and sets, and everything in between!  No audition is necessary for this fun-filled camp, full of exploration, investigation and imagination! Stage Explorers Summer Camp is for rising first through sixth graders.

 

Music

Jazz Boot Camp 2014 Our unique and intensive summer music camp experience is for youth ages 10-17 with previous experience on their instrument (brass, woodwind, percussion, piano, bass, and guitar).

Key Signatures Rock Star Camp is a week-long summer camp that runs from 10:00am to 12:00, Monday-Friday, with sessions running weekly June 4th-July 20th.

Melody Magic Music Studio- Join us this summer for our Summer of Music! Your children will sing, play, and dance their way through our 2 months of classes! It’s so much fun, they will never realize they are learning and growing along the way!

Orchestra Project. Orchestra Project is an exciting summer music camp staffed entirely by some of the most talented players and teachers in Richmond.

School of Rock For more than a decade, School of Rock has been inspiring kids of all ages to rock on stage and in life. Four week long camps run from 9a-2p exploring a new rock genre each week: History of Punk- June 16-20, Led Zeppelin- June 23-27, Beatles- July 7-11, and ROCK 101 (beginners only) Aug 4-8.

The Greater Richmond School of Music. Dates vary by program – Camps include ROCK CAMP, Piano Camp, Chamber Music Workshop, and the St. Cecilia Summer Music Festival.
