Calling all high school students who love writing: Edgar Allan Poe Young Writers’ Conference, provides a week-long residential program designed to encourage and stimulate the writing skills of high school students.
Students who at the conference can hone their skills in a variety of ways including small group instruction with a writing instructor, lectures by practicing writers in several different fields, personal writing time with critical response from instructors, and special events designed to enhance the writing experience.
Sponsored by the Edgar Allan Poe Museum of Richmond, Virginia, the conference aims to continue the legacy of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe made great efforts towards the development of American literature and inspired many young writers. The Poe Museum hopes to continue that goal in aiding the development of the next generation of writers.
High school students who have completed the ninth grade may apply for this overnight week-long conference. Students will spend the week living together as a community of writers to allow them to gain inspiration and support for one another.
The deadline to apply is April 15th, 2014
The conference runs June 22-28, 2014
